I found this in my father's effects a couple of years ago after he passed. I remember it setting on his desk, but never knew what is was. It's brass, about a foot tall, the top is a cap that screws on, it's hollow with a plug in the bottom and has a perforated baffle? inside below the neck.

The only hing I could come up with was maybe some kind of gun or black powder storage.

Any ideas?

My father had something similar (not as fancy) in aluminum that was a mini humidor for a single cigar.

Well now that sounds like a likely use for it. It's a foot tall, so you could have put a big ol' stogie in there. Maybe they put some desiccant in the bottom?

Thanks for the suggestion.

Maybe I should list it on Ebay for $1000 as a rare one of a kind cigar humidor.

Sounds like a plan. People buy anything. List it as a rare antique to insure a high price.

If I remember right, (I was only about 5-7yrs old) he put drops of water in it to humidify dry cigars, but I suppose it could work both ways.
