I agree. My experience with my L3560 coming up on 4 yrs old, is that the dpf filter fills the most during the 5 minutes or so it takes the engine to warm up. The 60 series tractors have a bar graph in the panel that shows how full the filter is getting, and depending on how cold it is and if there are additives in the fuel, the dpf gains 2 to 4% in warming from a cold start. After that it gains little or decreases. I run it at an rpm appropriate to the task. Since I know a regen is coming from the graph, and I might want to get it done while I have something to do at high rpm, I might idle it to get it to kick over to 100 and start the regen. None of the diesel engines like to be lugged, so use appropriate rpm is fine as far as I am concerned. The only thing different is that there is no point in leaving these common rail engines idling when the tractor is stopped for a break. They are easy to start.

The only reason people are told to leave the rpm up all the time is the problem if someone gets off their tractor for half an hour and the tractor asks for a regen rpm and no one is paying attention. If someone is working and looks at the dash fairly frequently and checks for lights etc any suitable rpm is fine. You have roughly 30 min from the time it starts to request the regen to its completion, before it will demand a parked regen. So if you are fairly observant, no need to drop everything immediately.

I agree it can be inconvenient to have to think about it, I would like to be able to trigger it myself say any time after say 95% . While you can shut it off before it starts it is inadvisable to stop in the middle. Mine regens about 3 or 4 times a year.
Reason I run mine at PTO speed pretty much all the time is that I rarely notice the regen light (in the bright sun) until it's well into the regen (if I notice at all). I've put 200 hours on my tractor since I bought it in March, and I'm on it 10 hrs/day when mowing. Last thing I want is finding myself with lights and sirens going off because I didn't catch the need for a regen.

I agree with flyidaho - if I could ditch the regen altogether, I'd do it.

So who's making the trip to Poland?! Maybe I should, and pay them to get educated on how to do it once back in the good old USA. Probably easier to just keep re genning and complain about it! It does my mechanical sense good (and re news my faith in small diesels) to know it CAN happen though.

I emailed the outfit in Poland, asking if they could set me up with a conversion, along with the know how to do it. They responded with (in English) "First of all send us the photo of the ECM." As I assume that would mean the muffler (someone correct me if I'm wrong please) and it's associated parts, I will pop the hood and take a pic and send it off and see what happens next. One thing to keep in mind, and of course this is obvious, but Kubota's are a big time world wide brand, so them being Poland based is not like some outfit in the Ukraine making GMC truck engine mods. Though those are sold world wide also, but you get my drift. Who knows, maybe I have a trip to Poland in my future!

Engine Control Module. They need the S//N of your ECM to see if they can reprogram it or replace it or whatever they can do from Poland.

Thanks, NOT the muffler, got it! Maybe I'm not qualified to mess with it.....where does Kubota hide the ECM would be my next question. I'll take a peek under the hood and see if it jumps out at me.

Hit 62.5 hours today and went into regen when I had to take it down the street in high gear. When I got off the road I noticed it in regen. It was uneventful however if there was a way to bypass it like people do on trucks I would be all over it. I have emailed 3 companies and not received a response. Seems nobody is messing with the small tractor ECM’s. Hopefully the guy your talking to will do it.

L3301 with 109 hours haven’t seen a regent yet. However I get them on average about every 30 hours on my mx5200

I’m at 51 hours’ have been the only operator and have not yet had a regen on my L4701. Most of the time I’m running at PTO throttle but seems strange that it hasn’t gone into regen yet.
Are you certain that it has not regenerated?

I never know that my L6060 or M9960 have regenerated unless I scroll through the display screens to look at the percentage.

By 105 hours I already had 8 regens on my L3901DT, I don't do any mowing with it, mostly used in the woods and working on road.

First regent on my MX4800 was at 52 hours, second was at 168 hours. Both were while mowing so I didn’t really notice except for light on dash. I try to keep the rpm’s high.

I'm at 36 hours on L3560, 94% on the regen screen, guessing it will happen in the next couple of hours.

Perhaps, though with my L4060 the Regen percentage would significantly drop after some hard running early in its life.
After several years and 400 hours, It seems to remain at the same percentage (or slightly lower) after using it hard.

Not that it matters. It's always been painless and barely noticeable.

My 2017 L3901hst goes anywhere from 30-50 hours between regens. My first regent came at 48 hours. My latest regen was 597 hours and that was out from 557 hours previously.

First regen on L3901 @28 hrs. It was the odor of the regen that caught my attention - then I noticed the light. Uneventful.

I appreciate a small diesel with NO diesel odor, no smoke while operating. It's the one thing I disliked on previous B6200 with vertical stack.

I must be weird. I have an MX with a DPF and no smell. It’s refreshing to get on my 2501 and smell some diesel fumes.
