One of my hydraulic hoses is a little to long on my, Green Machine Shop Thumb installation.
Everything works nice, I can keep the hose out of arms reach of everything, but the lengthy hose make the installation looks messy.
Do I need to replace the Lengthy hose or can it be safely shorten to the proper length?

A hydraulic shop could probably cut it shorter and press on another end for you.

Any hydraulic hose can have the end removed and a new one installed thereby creating a shorter hose.

However, some shops wont do the work if they did not supply the original hose.

I made the mistake the other way . . . my hoses were too short . . . forgot to measure for the dump position on my Green Thumb . . .

Have a new hose made in the appropriate length and just hang onto the old one.
Yeah, probably not much cost difference over shortening the hose. The OP could always ask what either choice would cost.

Tractor Supply or Rural King or ASC will have pre made hoses in various lengths online or in the store.

The hoses at local tractor supply are in 1 ft increments. Not very satisfactory for a tidy looking connection in most cases.

Not into 'tidy'. Into functional and zip ties work wonders. Most every NAPA store will have an Aerquip hose machine to make a custom length and I read somewhere that O'Really's has them now as well.

Melvin - if it were me, I'd probably just put a zip tie on for now if possible.

After some time, maybe you'll want a shorter one....maybe not...

Like someone else said, I'd probably buy a new hose, and keep the old one. They're easier to make shorter than longer.....

Flip, you may not be into "tidy" but he already has a hose that is too long. Why would he buy another hose to replace it that is too long? What am I missing here? Or, do you just make comments without reading the thread?

Buy a shorter one and have a spare or.... take it to NAPA and have the long one shortened, or O'Really's, or a Parker outlet.

Actually, I am into tidy hydraulic hose routing because loose hoses snag stuf. I use HD zip ties. Every implement I run has hydraulics on it, some have lots of hoses.
