Dave, I kind of disagree, some models do really great changing just the bulb, there are some pretty intense LED's out now.
But yes some still suck with new LED's in them.

Speedybon, If you post some pictures of the Lamps you have I might be able to lead you in the right direction if available.

If I remember correctly, it's an 1156 bulb, sorry, I don't remember what led bulb I used. I do know it's a lot brighter than the original yellow things

yeah, some of them I've done do just "ok" with led bulbs. others scatter the light so much that they are worthless. only way to know is to try; i've not done a 7800 yet

I was wondering if anybody has replace the Standard headlight with leds. Its a single element and if you knew the part number?
If I remember correctly, it's an 1156 bulb
Speedy - I did a quick check and found part #66591-55630 for the OEM bulb only.

I've had some luck searching Part #'s, and finding references to "standard" auto bulbs. If boz is correct, 1156 is a common auto bulb type, and you should be able to find an LED version easily.

I did also see an 1156 reference for this P/N#. I think you'd want the LED version of these - do they look like your bulbs?:

https://powermowersales.com/Bulb-Kubota-66591-55630_p_201319.html

Just an LED example, might be able to find some at an auto parts store. Like Wolfman said, there's REALLY bright ones (these are 11W and 1,700 lumens):

https://www.amazon.com/LUYED-Extremely-Chipsets-Reverse-Brightest/dp/B01H54SP6O

But like Dave and lugbolt said it may or may not help a lot. My headlights are much better, but not great. I also didn't get really bright bulbs either....my wife says I'm a dim bulb sometimes.....

Re: B-7800 Led headlights? 1156 works

So I replace with LEDs and its so much brighter and 1/2 amp compared a full amp. You guys have to try this if lighting is a concern. I just tried the headlights at night and single 1156 bulb put out 189 lumens and the LED bulb are is putting out 2600 lumens. Also they seem to produce very little heat.

I have been looking at my pitiful headlights on the B7800 and this thread has prompted me to buy some LED bulbs. Took me 10 minutes on Ebay to find some cheap offshore bulbs. I ordered both kinds, will see which are best. They will get here sometime in January or February, I will be good as I have spot lights on the cab.

3400 lumens, $6.74 CAD for two bulbs

I have been experimenting with LED replacement illumination in all sorts of applications in airplanes, boats, tractors, autos, etc etc and found that interchangeable, simple-replacement LED lamps are usually NOT the solve-all/end-all solutions people hope-for.

INcandescent lamps have a wide-spectrum of light energy they throw which, although wasteful of energy such as heat, usually fill-out the objects being observed. Thats a way of saying that LEDs may put out more measurable lumens but they dont always illuminate because of the narrow spectrum they emit.

Im not familiar with the B7800 OEM headlights, but the OEM headlights of my M4700 Kubota positively SUCK. They are dim-yellow and the only thing they are good for is to GLARE the backside of the Front End Loader bucket, fork, or frame, depending upon what tool is loaded. On top of that, they are a proprietary bulb which costs ridiculou$ly and is not commonly available. (The headlights are mounted down low as if no FEL was ever planned for the tractor, so the FEL blocks all forward-illumination of the lights. The local Kubota-dealer told me the reason they were built that way was because that was as high as the Japs could REACH!). :D

I solved my headlight problem by mounting an LED Light-Bar on top of the radiator-guard which places the HUGE amount of light above both the hood and the usual height of the FEL. Its the CATS MEOW for seeing at night!

I also have been experimenting with plug and play LED bulbs, mostly from off shore but some from the US. They have been placed in a 53' Ferguson, 97' Goldwing, 03' Tribute and a 05' Silverado with mixed results. LED's are great if you want to be seen but sometimes are not good for "seeing".

There are two LED light bars in my future for the B7800, both on the cab, one for the snowblower on the 3 PTH and one facing front. I have a light bar behind the grill on my Silverado and it is great.

I looked at those before I bought mine. They are 1300 lumens per bulb for a total of 2600 lumens. They are probably very good bulbs.

I replaced my OEM single element head light bulbs on the ole B2410 with some kick butt LEDs from Superbrightled.com. This site gives detailed info on the LED bulb. This will allow you to measure up your clearances in the OEM light housings. All you have to do is get the LED bulbs that put out the most light and still fit in the housing.

However.... (there seems to always be a however) LED bulbs are polarized. On mine I had to swap +/- leads to match the bulb center pin with the positive lead.

Other than that I just did a plug and play on the bulb swap... eazy peazy!

Well, if and hen the LED bulbs that Wolfman suggested I order show up, I'll post a test on them. Coming direct from China (via Sampan) so it will be a while I suspect.

I finally found some LED bulbs that were short enough to fit in the OEM housing. These do fit and are very bright. Just ordered two more before they go off market.
