I have a L4630 that is giving some problems. When I change directions and release the clutch the tractor will stop and start pulling several times. It will finally pull normally in that direction. Clutching and releasing clutch in the same direction works properly. If I change directions it will do the stop/start again. Any ideas? Pretty violent,, not usable like it is. It will cause more damage.

Sorry,,, GST Transmission,,, 1100 hrs on tractor
That's what I expected you to say.

You more than likely have a fluid quality, or delivery issue, if not some internal issue.

How long has it been since it had a full fluid and filter change?

Do you step on the clutch pedal every time you shift or change direction?

Try it without manually clutching and tell me if it's doing the same "exact thing" or if it's changing the way it feels.

I'm trying to see if it might be a mechanical clutch that's failing or if it's a hydraulic clutch pack issue.

Might need to do some hydraulic pressure testing to get to the bottom of this.

Do you have the WSM for the tractor?
If not ask and I'll send you a copy. ;)

I dont have one. That would be great. Do these tractors shift electronically using solonoids or mechanically. It acts as if you are pulling the shuttle shifter in and out

I found a forum with a guy who has the same problem and it was the GST pressure sensor but I cannot find a part by that name.
