All this comparison to cars is a mute point. I think I'm the only one in TN who actually uses turn signals except for the occasion car that drives for miles with a turn signal flashing :(
That’s a moot point. :D

Turn indicators shall be provided. When a turn is signaled, the amber
flashing warning lamp(s) opposite the direction of turn shall become
steady burning. The amber flashing warning lamp(s) in the direction
of turn shall increase in flashing rate.

The short answer, it is Federal Law and the standard was developed by ASABE and put into place by the Federal governement.

I got that from my 3rd grade teacher. Mute point = a moot point falling on deaf ears. Somehow that stuck with me.
I dont see it that way and was only making a feeble attempt at humor.

If something is muted, it does not emit ordinary sound.

Deafness cannot hear emitted sound.

In any event, a point may not be audible at all. It might be visual, or textual, or implied. It is only mute if it is suppressed, I.E., not expressed at all.

Something is moot if it is inconsequential. Sort of like my silly comment. ;)

How about a moo point? Moooooo....

Oops! Almost forgot my input on the light non-blinky thing... I think it is definitely a way to improve our visibility. Why not make as much visual noise as you can when you’re changing direction in the world’s slowest motor vehicle? In the eyes of many, you’re already in the way and going way too slow. Frustration and impatience do not typically lend to better decision making as a motorist, so I’d like to make sure those numbnuts know I’ma bout to hang a Louie!!!
