I am going to be shopping for some used weights, and was wondering what I should pay if I were to come across some suitcase weights. In the past, I have seen some yellow & green JD as well as orange Kubota weights, but at the time, I wasn't in the market. What would be a reasonable or fair price for these? thanks

I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur of weights and occasionally buy and sell, mostly as a hobby.

Generally, used weights that have been around awhile and are mostly rusty sell for around 50% of new. A good rule of thumb is $0.50/Lb. Newer weights that still have decent paint and have all of the needed hardware to attach to one's tractor, a bit more but probably no more than $0.75/Lb. unless they are rare or have some collector value.

Recently, I sold a set of 5, 5013 weights with weight bracket and all needed bolts to install on most recent small Kubota tractors for $450, but this is an exception, as they were little used, I had repainted everything, and had secured any and all missing hardware.

50 cents a pound UNLESS JD, then the sellers want $2 up here !!!
I had 30 or 35 JD versions made for free (well 'barter'), used them once and even then 'as new' couldn't get 50c/pound...

Couple of years ago I bought 5 5013 (55lb ea) with hardware, no bracket, for $150. All in good shape with most paint and little rust.

50 cents a pound here and don't forget you may need a weight bracket for the front of the tractor.

Kind of wish my M's would do that. They require a weight attachment.

I bought mine from my dealer. They were a off brand he carried instead of Kubota brand. I got the bracket and 1000 lbs new for about $800.

I had 6-20kg/45# suitcase weights on my JD425 for the snowblower.

Worked on front or back. Betting they would work on front of my BX.

Without thinking, I sent all 6 with it when I traded it....not my smartest move.....:eek:

I look for weights at auctions. Seems regardless for size or condition, they usually bring close to $1/pound around here....I'm still looking....
