I just bought a 2005 L3130 with loader. The boot on the tie rod is split on one side. I assume that like a car, this needs to be replaced. Is this a repair that a DIY can handle? And if yes or no, if the front tire ever needs to be raised, is this a matter of jacking the front end while lowering the bucket? Thanks for any comments. Bill

There is a YouTube video of exactly this but it’s on a BX model. Should be similar. Doesn’t look to be difficult.

Mine was torn by the PO and I just cut it off and wrapped the joint with two-wraps of neoprene gasket material and clamped it on the ends with safety-wire. It keeps out the dirt and has worked just fine for some time now. (If you do this, I suggest you leave the last wrap-edge on the under-side, and also have it face aft.)

If anyone knows how to work that ring spring thing (part 070), please share.

I walked it off using a screw driver. It's just a spiraled springy wire. It's somewhat similar to putting a key on a key ring.

It is easy to get off, but somewhat of a pain getting back on.

Maybe we didn't try hard enough. Dad and I gave up on reinstalling them and just used black zip ties.

Curious how much grease was in the joint when the boot was removed.
