Would like to install an OEM Kubota engine block heater. Do all model Kubota's take the same heater? or is it specific to the model....If so what is the Kubota part number for a BX23S.....

According to a google search, 25mm, 400 watts or 3 1/3 amps draw at 120 volts.

As a general guide, I've found everything on the base tractor is metric, most attachments are SAE. Keeps you guessing when you do a general look over for loose fittings!

It's neither 3/4" or 1", it's a freeze plug replacement for that model.

You didn't like the part # I gave you?

Part I have on bench is 70000-73274.

Threads in the block were you remove a 17mm allen plug...

I'm interested to see the location of this heater on the engine.

John,

funny you mention this post .....

I find it somewhat amusing that people post the same answer as someone posted hours before! I don't think many people EVEN read all the suggestions that have been posted before they post their thoughts. Now - I Get it, two people minutes apart, make perfect sense, but when the correct answer has been posted hours or days before and then someone chimes in .....check the "safety" switch .....well, you understand what I mean...

rant for the day is over - continue as you were:D:):)

85Hokie, I hear you! Don't know if folks are in too big of a hurry, too lazy to read the complete thread, happy they know the answer, or have difficulty with reading comprehension.

It's not just this forum, but others also. When I see that happening I usually don't respond to that thread any longer. You get the feeling you're talking to someone who isn't listening, so why bother.

Sure did....and it said: it's a freeze plug replacement for that model.. I've been around quite some time and I never heard of a freeze out plug that was threaded.....Appreciate all the knowledge & wisdom.....

I think everyone, including myself, are unintentionally confusing the heck out of you!

P/N 70000-00776 is a 25mm drive in freeze plug replacement it's for the motors that do not have a threaded port on the block, as some don't.

P/N 70000-73274 is a 1" thread in block heater.

The threaded plug the some are referring to, is not a freeze plug, it's a threaded option port, it takes a 17MM allen to remove and is not a 17MM hole it's a 1" hole.

There is a ton of misinformation out there on block heaters!

So look on the side of the block and see if you have the option plug, if you do then get the thread in heater, if you don't get the freeze plug heater.

Anyone have a dandy snap of the location of the threaded plug?

Here are two good posts on the situation:

BLOCK HEATERS

70000-00771 Block Heater for BX2350, BX2360, BX2370, BX24, BX25, BX25D/-1

70000-73274 Block Heater for BX2660, BX2670/-1

70000-00298 Block Heater for BX1850, BX1860, BX1870/-1

It looks like this is a freeze plug design and not the desired threaded type.

Go take a quick peek under the hood (left side), you should have a plugged hole like this (in yellow) 17mm Allen wrench. Heater is P/N 70000-73274

Here are two good posts on the situation:
Ona BX tractor, the left side of the engine is on the right side of the tractor as the engine is mounted backward. The threaded hole for the block heater is on the righthand side of the tractor.:D

So it sounds like it has to be described as "it's on the side of the engine opposite the injection pump", for clarity.

Where would I check for this same information on a BX1880? I'm not seeing the 17MM hex pictured above. Dont want to derail. Probably best to call my dealer. Basically trying to confirm if a BX1880 is a punch-out plug or thread-in block heater.
