Longer term storage I wipe corrosion susceptible parts with a thin layer of Fluid Film. Has moisture repellent residue that won't dry or fade like WD.

I have a 3 ft long chunk of pressure treated 8x8 that I tuck under the base of the backhoe (in line with the stabilizer legs) when doing the final lowering after unhitching from the tractor, but before disconnecting the hoses (obviously). As the stabilizers rise it sits down quite solid on the 8x8, and I just leave the stabilizers resting on the ground. The boom has been lowered a bit, and dipper extended a bit, and bucket opened enough for it to sit nice and flat on the ground, with dipper vertical, and boom out enough to keep operator platform level. Then once the hoses are disconnected I rotate the control levers to relieve any pressure.

Remember to cap off your hose and coupler ends.

This configuration has not moved over 4 months of sitting idle, as it seems the cylinders are not under pressure that could bleed off.

I wish I had a picture, way easier to describe, but gave it a shot.
