Hi,

I have a B1550 with gear transmission. I need to remove the transmission to replace the 2wd/4wd shift fork and am having trouble separating the transmission from the differential housing.

Transmission has been disconnected/separated on the front already.

Per the workshop manual I believe I've removed all bolts fastening the transmission to the differential housing (two from inside the differential housing, and nine nuts along the perimeter on the outside). Am I missing something?

Sounds like you've got them all, 9 nuts on perimeter, one short and one longer bolt in through the diff case (only one i can't see in the pictures is the very bottom center).

A simple, basic practice to get in to is to clean anything you are going to disassemble before removing one bolt. It will save you so much frustration and grief later!

True! Generally everything gets a hotsy bath before coming in the shop, this one missed the bath as it was well below freezing and the front axle was locked up.

When I separated my L1500DT it was a real bear ,
the factory gasket and sealant really took and it did not want to move.

Had to really "talk" to it with a thin chisel and hammer to get it started.

Got it apart this morning, last night before I left the shop I soaked down the gasket area with penetrating fluid. Not sure if that made the difference or not but I figure it didn't hurt.

Expected carnage was found, thankfully damage appears to be isolated to the front drive shift fork and engagement gear.
