The tachometer needle doesn't move on my L245DT. The lights for oil and start come on with the key. Can anyone give me some ideas on what could be the problem and how to troubleshoot this?

The Tach is 100% mechanical, no electric involved, it's cable driven off the front of the engine, start at the Tach and work forward, broken cables and broken drive boxes, are the normal issues
What NIW said. Pull the cable off the gear box and spin it up with a drill. If the tach doesn't work, take the cable off the back of the tach. If that end isn't spinning, replace the cable. If it is spinning, replace the tach. If the tach does spin, replace the drive.
