Thanks for the additional info B737 - very helpful! Did you find any other differences between the dealer instructions and the more generic instructions? I've perused both and the dealer instructions seem to be very in-depth and do provide a good level of detail.

I couldnt find any other difference between the two sets. especially after what Eserv explained, I think the dealer version is the one to go by.

Ok, thank you. Yea, agreed - the dealer instructions seem to be the better of the two. Between those and your detailed post, I think I can do this!

Still no grapple, which is my goal, but at least I'll have the option.

Artillian grapple arrives! Being a little over my head in hoses and fittings, I hope one day someone may find this information useful in the future who installs a Land Pride 380-137A kit.

I struggled with the couplers Land Pride provided for the implement in their kit. They use o-ring boss (ORB) fittings. They are Safeway 1/4" S20 series with poppet. SH20-14P is the set; SH21-14P is the male, and the female is SH25-14P.

It is difficult to find the female coupler or the pair, unless in bulk. Furthermore, the o-ring boss thread at the bulkhead bracket made it difficult for my local hose shop to swap an off the shelf coupler.

The Artillian grapple comes with Safeway S41-2 male (ISO 5675) , so you need a Female S25A-2 at the loader. Good luck finding this with o-ring boss, which led me to reach out to Ken at kensboltonhooks...

Ken threw me a real lifeline, walking me through sorting this out. He advised me to change the supplied Land Pride bulkhead fitting to 2706LN-04-06 1/4" NPTF Male Pipe x 3/8" JIC Bulkhead then install Safeway S25A-2 female connector abandoning ORB style all together. Gain NPT flexibility, and a more compact fitting on the loader. Remember to order dust caps.

The Safeway S20 ORB fittings are also used at the valve block itself on this kit. The provided LP dust caps fit like crap. I found " 1/4" pioneer / parker 4000 / S20 caps" at McMaster-Carr fit both male and female perfectly, for when you remove the loader. Item numbers 5341K81 and 5341K71

Another detail I wanted to adjust was the loader joystick. The 3rd function knob brings the joystick out 4" further than its already ludicrous length. I used a cut off wheel to cut about 2-3" off the rod so the loader control felt comfortable again.

Setting up the artillian grapple was super easy. Unpack, hang, connect the hoses. It's a really well thought out system, set up to functioning was literally 30 minutes. Thanks wholly to Ken for sorting out the fittings ahead of time.

Also took the opportunity to install Earth and Turf BX grille guard

I fab'd a bracket for the guard to hang front weights on. More on that here.

I'm really looking forward to unleashing this thing on my brush piles. Full disclosure, I overlooked that the Land Pride SGC0554 is ~50 pounds lighter than this particular set up. If I run out of capacity I may switch down the road, but for what I intend to use it on I think it will be okay. (SGC0548 is not SSQA)

It's great to wrap up this project and finally arrive at the goal post. Many thanks to Ken and the community here for helping me along the way to make it happen.

adding this youtube video as its the perfect bookend to this thread. Biffs BX Summit 3rd function install. This kit looks identical to the LP kit. I wish this video was out there prior to my install it would have cleared up a lot of questions

Not my video. That guy is a total hack, but it was an informative video nonetheless

I don't like the artillian system, but the 3rd function and grapple was effective on the BX while I had it.

And the crux of the install is 19:30 through 22:00 of the video. That covers the removal of the OEM power beyond tube and connection of the third function valve in its place.

yeah with the right ports identified its a very straight forward install. The conflicting directions is what made it confusing (to me). If you are familiar with working with steel brake lines on a car, it's all the same stuff, and more forgiving.

Well if I ever get a 3rd function I'll be coming back to this thread.. maybe it will help with my 2680. Been wanting a grapple for a while. Thanks for all the pics B737!

The BX2680 loader valve uses hoses rather than steel pipe for the connection to the hydraulic outlet block. Even easier to hook up. Assuming no backhoe:

  1. Remove right rear wheel.
  2. Disconnect hose #10 from elbow #100 at outlet block #70
  3. Connect free end of hose #10 to pressure in (P) port on third function valve
  4. Using new hose connect tank (T) port on third function valve to elbow #100.
  5. Replace wheel
I would expect all connecters and hose ends to be JIC-8 or possibly JIC-6
