Just did my first engine oil and filter change. The owners manual says 3.7 qts but I've got 4 qts in it now and still barely at the halfway point on dipstick. After replacing oil and filter, I started it and let it run for a couple mins and checked again and again after letting it rest with same results. So is the manual off or is it me? And what oil is everyone running in there front axle, sudt2 or gear oil? Thanks

First thing, if on completely level ground, check cold......it can a bit of time to have ALL the oil get to a constant level. Make sure the dipstick is pressed into the hole, add fluid if needed to the "fill" mark. I have heard lots of owners say the same thing about their 2670 after an oil fill - it is low.:)

If the oil level on the dipstick indicates within the acceptable oil level area, you are good to go. A dipstick is not a very precise way of measurement. Where the cap is located and where the full level is located on the dipstick can be different from one dipstick to another. That's why the dipstick has a range where the oil level is good. Don't worry about it.

Has anyone figured out the correct oil capacity for the BX2670? My book calls for 3.7 qts which only gets the oil barley past the low mark. It takes 4.5 qts to get it close to the upper line on the stick.

On my BX2660 I used 4 quarts, not 3.7.

Does 4 qts get you to the top fill mark on the stick?
Just checked tonight - no - not to the top fill mark

1/2 way between the two holes in the dipstick (cold, sitting for a week)

Sorry about the clean dipstick! It was around the 3rd letter on the stick in the pic. I'm not concerned and didn't add any additional oil. I did my last oil change 30 hours ago at 285 hrs and the oil was still clean and good to go... I'll probably change it again at 350 hrs for the spring/mowing season

That’s about where mine was at with 3.7 qts, with 4.5 it’s just below the high mark.

I still scratch my head on this one. Changed my oil and filter yesterday and I put in 4.5 Qts to get it almost to the high mark on the dip stick. The book has to be wrong at its stated 3.7 Qts.

Go by the dipstick, not the book.

Someone hit the wrong key while writing, and it never gets changed and folks have questions for ever!
