Well...while I’m admitting my own mistakes...

I bought a FM-180 Finish Mower from Betsco and am generally happy with it.... but I ran over an unseen object and it made a minor bend in the center blade, so I decided to remove the blade and straighten it in my shop hyd press.
Being above “avridge-intelli-gents” and “e-kwipped with hevy-dootie tools” I decided to use my impact wrench to remove the blade. It was a 21 mm head on the bolt so I grabbed my 21mm socket and pulled the trigger on my impact ... and promptly ripped the head off that bolt!

The owner’s manual didn’ menchun enny-thang ‘bout a LEFT-HAND bolt on that spindle!

Called Betsco and those bolts are one-month back-order.

Went to Fastenal...and they refused to allow anyone past the front door because of the virus.... so told me to come around to the BACK door!

They measured it to be a M14 X 2.0 X 30mm bolt, 8.8 hardness. They’d be very happy to order some for me... $7 each.... minimum order, a bag of 100!

Figured it’d be awhile before I can mow again.

Then, Amazon shows M14-2.0-50mm LEFT HAND bolts, Two for $15, two-day Prime delivery. Arrived today....Sunday!

Cut it to length, installed and mowed 3 acres in an hour.

Very Happy. :p

Wishing there was a bolt-head identifier for LEFT-Hand threads.

That must be one powerful impact to instantly twist the head of a 14mm 8.8 bolt.

Actually it’s a fairly inexpensive Ingersoll-Rand running at 90 psi.
I was surprised myself.

Say what you will about big tech and big business, Amazon, is for many of us, the source of last [or first] resort:)

It’s such a wonder, that Amazon took Sears & Roebuck’s original idea.... and buried them with it.

Either Evolve.... or cease to exist...

Been there did that:(
My tool of destruction was an electric HD Milwaukie 1/2" drive impact.

What makes so little sense about this is, viewed from the bolt head.... those blades turn counterclockwise. Resistance from grass, etc would tend to LOOSEN those bolts!

Maybe it’s because China is on the other side of the date-line...

I could be wrong, but many years ago I had a 59 Buick. I seem to recall that one side of the car had RH lugs and the other side had LH. This might be the same car that had lug bolts instead of lug nuts. One of my early cars was like that and they were a real pain.

Yep, my first car was a '59 Buick, and I figured out pretty fast that one side had bassackwards nuts on the wheels. I put Keystone mag wheels on it and had to change all the studs on the left side to right hand thread so the lug nuts would work.
I think some Chrysler products were that way also, in addition to most big trucks with Budd wheels. What a PITA.
