    Brush hog blade-nut access

Stubbyie mentioned mowers that have an access hole to get to the blade nut. I decided to put one on my old Montgomery Ward 60" mower. The nut is 1-1/2", the socket is about 2" OD, and the hole saw I used is 2-1/2". The mower deck is 1/8", and I had some junk 1/8" plate lying about, so I used...

    Landscape rake gauge wheel

I was discussing the relative uselessness of my landscape rake with my Kubota dealer. He pointed out that when they were first introduced by Servis/Rhino, they only came with gauge wheels, that his had them, and that they made the rake a heck of a tool. So, since I had already built a gauge...

L3200 out of gas - would not restart

So I ran out of gas about 1/4 mile from the barn - uphill both ways, naturally. I was tilling my garden patch, and it just quit. I figured it was out of gas, and fueled it up. Read up on bleeding the fuel lines, and charged out to restart it. It started, ran about 10 seconds, and quit again...

Down force on 3 pt hitch

I've seen a hundred threads on having downward force on the 3PH. I've needed a rear jack a few times, so decided to make one. It takes some carefun operation - you have to be sure to leave the 3 point arms control all the way low, and you don't want to jack it and leave it - my remote...

Swap R4s for R1s, and wider fenders

I finally got really fed up with my R4s, so I got some R1s to replace them. The actual on-the-ground tread actually went from about 13" to about 11.5", but the diameter went from about 40" to 45+", and the traction is way up! Then, rather than try to fit my chains on the AGs, I bought 4 boxes...

    Foam filled tires (2)

I read and re-read the first thread on foam filled tires - http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13080 - and have questions! I'd looked into foam filled tires a couple of years ago, and thought I'd found that the foam is bowling ball type foam, not the RTV type stuff you...

    FEL deal

If anyone is ready to start a FEL project, I just saw this deal on ebay. A bit of work and you have a $4000-$6000 FEL! http://www.ebay.com/itm/FRONT-END-BUCKET-FOR-KUBOTA-TRACTOR-/290972590876?pt=US_Heavy_Equipment_Attachments&hash=item43bf51631c

    rear camera

My neck doesn't turn as well as it used to, so I have a heck of a time lining the tractor up to an implement, and also watching what is going on where the gadget hits the ground. I picked up a camera and monitor on ebay. I mounted them both to the underside of the canopy. Camera is waterproof...

    Decorum

I am dismayed by the recent emotional abuse in the responses to advice threads. People are asking for help with issues. We, as knowledgeable users, are offering that advice. It should be enough to state our opinions, and allow the initiator to draw his own conclusions. We should not be...

    L3200 QA snow plow blade

I'm building a QA snow plow for my L3200. I picked up the QA frame on ebay, added to it 1/4x3x3 angle iron, a 5/16x8 blade edge, and some 900 lb casters. The blade is 7' wide. I run the FEL in float. The bucket roll back tilts the blade about 2" high, riding on the casters. For normal...

    rear blade guage wheel 2

With snow just around the corner I needed to make a decent gauge wheel for my rear blade. Something to allow me to toss the snow without removing all of the gravel. So I ordered this wheel, hub and yoke from agrisupply.com for about $70, tossed in a few bits and pieces, and voila! I have it...

A couple of rear weight ideas

Thirty years ago I was at one of our steel supplies, and picked up 6, 1-1/4x15" disks from their scrap bin. About 70lbs each. For years I had 3 on each rear wheel of the L185, now 2 are on the Cub Cadet riding mower. I decided to use the other 4 as either additional weight for the rear blade...

    Rear blade refurb

After 30+ years I thought my Rhino blade needed cleaning up. So I disassembled it, sandblasted off the rust and old paint, and added some brackets for hydraulic angle control. Then I painted it - orange, naturally - and stuck on some decals from ebay. When I bought the tractor I had the dealer...

    FEL driver protector

On my L185 I dumped half a load of dirt and rock all over the hood more than once, trying to put excess fill in a big pile. I had a 4-post ROPS, so I didn't worry about boards or logs rolling back and causing painful injury. On my new L3200 I just finished a driver protector, made with 3/4" X...

    FEL operation

I read L3800’s thread about tire size on the L3800 - 4 ply rear and 8 ply front - and Bluegill’s response - they have to be heavier to handle the FEL. The topic had entered into my decision to go for R4 tires when I bought. I think we should all slow down a bit and think this through... We...

    Front weights

I put together a weight bar for the front of my L3200. The weight is about 260#. Cost of the steel was $210. Total bill was about $225, with the hardware and a can of spray paint. Kubota's suitcase weights would have been about $350.:)
