    HST filter removal problem

Someone on this forum suggested an air chisel with a blunt chisel directed against the notches on the filter's mounting flange. I did this and got the filter off in seconds.

    Adding rear remote valves L3010

Dan, thank you for the reply. I just got back from my local hose supplier. I got the missing fittings for just under double what I would pay from Discount Hydraulic Hose. I priced a hose there that I have already purchased from Surplus Center. I paid $22.60 for an 84" hose, two wire, 5000 psi...

    Adding rear remote valves L3010

My parts came in, so I started installing the remotes. I welded a couple of pieces of steel to the existing Bush Hog loader valve bracket to bolt the new valve to. Then I plumbed up the pressure, power beyond, and tank lines. I inserted a tee fitting into the tank line (which pours fluid until...

PTO shaft will not come off the spline

Just went through this trying to get the brush hog shaft off my cousin's JD 3038. Drenched it in and around the slip collar with PB Blaster, and it came right off after a minute. Spent an hour before going after the PB Blaster.

Dan, thank you for the reply. That will make much less of a mess.

    Adding rear remote valves L3010

Hi: I have purchased a four spool valve with float on each. I will be plumbing in my grapple with one spool, two rear remotes, and one spool in reserve for some future use. Power beyond from my loader valve will feed the pressure inlet on the new valve, and the new valve power beyond connects to...

    Trailer Recommendation

Well, it WAS a good deal. He sold it. You snooze, you lose!

    Trailer Recommendation

It's a Carry All from Direct Trailer Source. I like the equalizer hitch he's throwing in. The only downside is that it has slide in ramps, so I will have to put wood blocks under the back when loading/unloading. But that's a small price to pay. Everything else in this category has been about $5500.

    Trailer Recommendation

Thanks Dan. I have been talking with a guy who has a two year old 7 x 20 dual axle trailer with 5200 pound axles and an equalizer hitch for $3700. He also has a title. He hauls a Polaris Razor on it, and it's too heavy for his use. Since there is no tag requirement in Tennessee, all new...

    Trailer Recommendation

Thank you very much, everyone, for all the thoughtful and informative replies. This was a much greater response than I had expected. I am in complete agreement with everyone on 1. Safety, 2. Legality, 3. Proper sizing. Being retired, and not a gazillionaire, I am somewhat limited in funds for...

    Trailer Recommendation

Thanks everyone, for the replies. After reading some of the replies earlier today, I decided to up the weight capacity to two 5200 pound axles, and a 20' minimum size trailer. I am talking with three different trailer dealers currently and will probably have few options with their present...

    Trailer Recommendation

I recently acquired an L3010 with a Bush Hog M246 Loader. The specs say the tractor weighs 2745 pounds. I called Bush Hog, and spoke to someone who said that he could not find a weight listed in any of his literature. He stated that the shipping department probably had a shipping weight back in...

    Paint Color for L3010

So evidently, the change to Bright Orange was about 1995 or so. My 2002 is definitely the Bright Orange. The Krylon is not a perfect match. I painted my grill and wheels with it, and there is a noticeable difference. Another point is that the Krylon does not provide a high gloss. It's more of a...

    Determining bevel gear clearance

Dan, you are correct. I think they are using plastigauge because there is no way to measure backlash on the bevel gears. Nothing is open to facilitate using a dial indicator, and there is a lot of slop on the splined input/output shafts, so you couldn't check it there. Gear marking compound may...

    Determining bevel gear clearance

Hi: I have the front axle of my L3010D HST apart except for the diff. The bottom bevel gears both had damaged teeth with a lot of metal filings in the bottom of the housings. I have the two bevel gears, bearings, and axle seals ordered. The 42 tooth gears are in good shape. The service manual...

    Hydraulic Quick Connects

Thank you for the reply. I think I will run 3/8" everywhere as you suggested. I checked the quick connects on the loader, and they are ISO 5675 series as well in a 3/8". I will replace the 1/2" couplers on the grapple with 3/8" and make every quick connect and new hoses the same size and series...

    Hydraulic Quick Connects

My 2002 L3010HST has a Bush Hog FEL. When I bought the tractor a couple of weeks ago, I also bought a new 72" CID grapple. The grapple has 1/4" hydraulic lines adapted to 1/2" ISO 5675 male couplers. I am ordering a four spool valve, which will mount just in front of the loader valve on the...

    Headlight Wiring

Update: I found the wires. They were burned/melted/cut off and stuck up under part of the engine. Pretty sure its the right ones as some partially undamaged wires go to the temp sensor and fuel cut off solenoid. Add this to the ever growing list.

    Headlight Wiring

Thank you for the quick replies. I will look again. Since the connector from Harness 1 to Harness 2 is an eight-pin, does it feed something in addition to the headlights?

    Headlight Wiring

MY L3010D had broken headlights and a pretty trashed grill. After metal beating, welding, Bondo, and primer, I've got the grill ready for orange paint. I bought a new headlight assembly which looks to be an exact replacement except for the plastic wire connector, but I can splice in the old...
