L35 - Lost Front Wheel Drive

It seems as if I have a problem identical to Harley's. I have an L35 that stripped the pinion gears and when the front axle was disassembled the pillow blocks and the bosses on the axle were worn really really bad. My friend bored out the bosses to 2.5" for the smaller one and 3" for the big one...

Kubota L35 - Lost power to the front wheels

You're right, welding doesn't sound like a good idea. I don't like the idea of the rounded splines on the pinion. Loctite offers a spline epoxy that looks like it might work for some extra peace of mind after I replace the driveshaft and both couplers.

Kubota L35 - Lost power to the front wheels

The propeller shaft is stripped pretty good.

Kubota L35 - Lost power to the front wheels

I took the shaft out and the pinion splines are a little rounded but still look good enough to re-use. I may weld another half of a coupling onto it to give it some more engagement on the pinion.

Kubota L35 - Lost power to the front wheels

I did what you suggested and I immediately found the problem. The shaft does not turn at all when I spin the front wheels. The front coupler just spins over the splines on the driveshaft side. It appears that I lucked out because the driveshaft and coupler is stripped and not the pinion.

Kubota L35 - Lost power to the front wheels

I was plowing some snow with the front end loader and about 30 minutes in I noticed I had no traction anymore. It was obvious that only my rear wheels were spinning and lost 4WD. I tried backing up and making sure it was in 4WD and all I could hear is a little whirring noise (similar to a gear...

Bucket float control on an L35

Great idea, I was going to machine new ones but that sounds easier.

Bucket float control on an L35

I just bought an L35 tractor with a TL720 loader and the valve seems to have a minor problem. When you push up on the loader the difference between down pressure and float is so small that it's hard to get it to go down instead of float down. The other problem I have is that the float doesn't...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Changed the front main seal on my L245DT

My oil leak scare of the day.

The pump was pushing oil but it was going straight out the ends of the cam. The highest measured pressure was 3PSI or so at full rpm. I changed the rod and main bearings anyways but they looked good. The cam and bore was completely chewed up though. I had to bore the cam tunnel out .030" and...

My oil leak scare of the day.

I bought a kubota where the previous owner removed the low oil pressure light and I unknowingly ran it for 8+ hours with no pressure. Turns out the oil pressure wouldn't go over 3 psi and the main and rod bearings look pretty good. The only thing that was damaged was the cam bore and the cam...

    Refurbish Kubota L245DT

When I was rebuilding my L245DT I would just put a screwdriver across the positive wire going to the starter and the solenoid. This will make the tractor start without any wiring hooked up besides the power feeding the starter. The tractor didn't want to start for a while and I had to open the...

How hot should my Kubota L245DT run?

Even though the radiator looked clean I decided to blow it out anyways and a ton of dust came out. I guess even though it looks clean there can still be a lot of pollen and dust stuck in there. It's winter now and the temps really don't get hot at all especially with the radiator cleaned out...

    Oil Pressure ?

Is the 18psi when warm? It seems ok but just a bit low. Did you check the cam plus on the camshaft itself?

How hot should my Kubota L245DT run?

These tractors have a .9bar cap (13psi or so) so that would mean that your tractor heated up to 263*F to boil the water, does that seem right? I can't find much online since all these gauges don't have actual numbers. I think 190-230 might be an acceptable range for operating but I'm not sure.

How hot should my Kubota L245DT run?

I was working it hard today moving dirt with a box blade that's probably a bit too big (6') and it worked its way all the way up to 210*F after an hour or so. Is this too hot for these tractors? Maybe the radiator needs replacing? It has fresh coolant from the motor rebuild and the waterpump...

    3pt hitch won't move l245dt

Looks like I reversed the drain and the pressure to the loader. I moved a bunch of dirt out in the backyard and there doesn't seem to be any blowby or smoke. I was using a 6' box blade which might be a bit big for the tractor but it seems to be running very good.

    3pt hitch won't move l245dt

Update, the 3pt rises with full power when I hit the bucket tilt on the FEL, which hose do I have reversed?
