Leaking front axle seal on L4060

Thanks for your answers and thanks for your offer to help if I need it. I use The Tractor Center which used to be called Senter Tractor in Garner on 401. I had the front axle seals replaced on my L48 by them and it was, I thought, very reasonable. I think it was about $300 per side a couple...

Leaking front axle seal on L4060

Thanks. I do have beet juice in the tires and an old 6' Gannon rollover box blade on the rear, that weighs close to 1000 lbs for ballast.

Leaking front axle seal on L4060

Nicksacco, thanks very much for this information. I'm sure I'd screw this up. I think number two's suggestion to pull the assembly and take that to the dealer is the ticket. I'm currently have Super UDT2 in the front axle, and intend to switch to 80w-90w oil, but I'll get this issue fixed...

Leaking front axle seal on L4060

Hi all. I have an L4060 with a slowly leaking front axle seal. I do not use my tractor much.....only about 20 hours per year. It has 190 hours on it. I use it mainly for maintaining my driveway and carrying cut-up deadfall out of the woods. It is garage-kept. Anyway, I have a slow axle seal...

Asking for advice on using a rental 3ph tiller for a first-time user

Thank you! You are absolutely right, that's what I should do. I'll never use a tiller again after this project and by the time I get the shaft, slip clutch and take the risk of breaking something into account, it doesn't make sense to try to save a few bucks on this. Thanks for knocking some...

Asking for advice on using a rental 3ph tiller for a first-time user

Thanks for the info on the PTO shaft.....just did a search on YouTube and found a couple of good videos explaining just what you're talking about. I also looked at a slip clutch that was mentioned to me on another forum and that looks like a very good idea too, so I think I'll buy my own PTO...

Asking for advice on using a rental 3ph tiller for a first-time user

Looking for some advice here, so I don't do anything boneheaded. I want to prepare my yard for planting decorative plants and turf. I have an L4060 tractor with HST. Last summer, a friend lent me a BCS walk-behind "tractor" with a tiller that is sort of a rototiller on steroids. I'm in Raleigh...

Missing zerks (never installed) on L4060 front wheel case supports.

Thank you, yes, you're right. I was looking at my operator's manual and had not looked at the WSM and I just looked at that and just as you said, the 3560 and my 4060 have an axle without grease fittings and the larger models, 4760 and up have axles with zerks.

Missing zerks (never installed) on L4060 front wheel case supports.

I have an L4060 that I bought last year from a dealer with 170 hours on it. I keep it in a garage and I've only put about 20 light-duty hours on it since then. I grease the loader every 10 hours and I decided to grease the rest of the tractor instead of waiting for 50 hours (which seems like...

    Homemade Chainsaw Carrier

Well, I've been wanting to rig up a contraption for carrying my chainsaw on my L4060 so I wouldn't have to put it in the bucket when I'm in the woods cutting up downfallen trees. I know there are kits on the market like SawHaul, but I didn't want to spend $180 on the thing and I'm not crazy...

L 4060 slow FEL when box blade is on the 3PH

Thank you, everyone. It is indeed the relief valve setting on the 3PH, and think even I can adjust that and not screw anything up! I raised the lift arms to ever-higher positions and the FEL worked fine all the way to almost-the-top. And then, when I reached the top, the slow-loader symptoms...

L 4060 slow FEL when box blade is on the 3PH

Thanks. I did hear some squealing briefly a few times today, but I'm also half deaf and I wasn't paying attention to it specifically when it happened, so I'll test it out tomorrow. And it seems to me that your suggestion might be correct, because when I raised the empty lift arms to their...

L 4060 slow FEL when box blade is on the 3PH

So, does that mean it might be as simple as the quick connect hoses having been reconnected to the wrong couplings?

L 4060 slow FEL when box blade is on the 3PH

I bought a used L4060 with 170 hours on it a few weeks ago. I have used it for a few hours, only using the FEL. The tires are loaded with beet juice and I have not needed any ballast hanging on the 3PH yet. I bought an old 6' Gannon rollover box blade for my first 3PH attachment. Today, I put...

    Changed fuel filter, won’t start!!

I had a 1995 Ford F250 with the 7.3 liter turbo diesel that I bought from a guy who had used starting fluid to start if when his glow plug relay went out. I took it to the dealer to get it fixed and they had to take off both heads because according to the dealer, several glow plugs had been...

l4060 - Sudden, very brief drop in RPM when very slowly moving in to pick up a unit of lumber with forks

You were exactly right.....I was lifting my butt slightly off the seat when I leaned forward and that triggered the safety switch. Thank you very much!
