As has been said, read the Op manual before you go any further. Both the shifting and the PTO should probably be done at lowest RPM's. Letting it roll a little while going from low to med might be advised. Since it sounds like you really like the tractor you might want to do like sheepfarmer...

Thanks. I was worried about taking out all five bolts because I figured some of them held the valve body on. I will try screwing it up tomorrow.

I am probably just stupid but pg21 of my manual says: "Lubricate all grease fittings every 10 hours of operation. Also lubricate joints of control lever linkage every 10 hours" They have a good diagram of where all the grease fittings are but do not show how to lubricate the control lever...

Might be time to try (with the key off and gear in neutral ) going straight to the starter with jumpers and see if it turns over.

Absolutely a great video. Most people wont watch it because of its length. I have a 1986 Subaru with 285K miles on the engine. Car is rusting up, radio and other things don't work well anymore but because of staying on top of oil changes the engine still runs great.

That's why I am suggesting he retain a sample of the oil. I love my L4701. Its almost three years old and the fire breaks it made probably saved our place from the English Hills fire. The L4701 machine has the torque and power to disk straight up and down the hills that I previously had to...

Not wanting you to throw money away but if you still can, get a sample of that oil. Don't ask me why but you may want to get it tested later on.
