How unsnap shroud around rear Ujoint of RCR1248

You can just make it out in this picture: the shroud around the rear Ujoint. Instructions for getting at the shear bolt are to unsnap the thing. Not evident just how to do that. There are a couple access holes in the sides that could be knocked out, but access to the shear bolt would be...

Setting up new Landpride RC a PITA

Figured to remove box blade and then mount and setup the new Landprice RC1248 this afternoon and then to go down and do some cutting. A real PITA. Almost sorry I did not buy another Frontier. Frontier's is MUCH easier to setup and works with QH hook left in place. Had to remove the top hook...

    New Bush Hog

I sold our 9 1/2 year old Frontier RC2048. Plan to buy a 4 foot Landpride and possibly also a Kubota RTV 520 from Beverage Tractor just over the mountain from us here in Charlottesville. Anything I should know about the Landpride, maybe a Woods instead?

    Buying a UTV

Wife is interested in a UTV to carry stuff around the property. Was initially looking at electric ones, but striking out on availability. Best value seems to be the Polaris Ranger, but a local dealer says Polaris hasn't made any available in quite a quite. They seem to be pressing their new...

    Bush hog replacement

I'm getting up in age, had 80th in April. The old Frontier RC2048 was bought about 8 to 9 years ago when I bought the lemony JD 1025R. Had it on the 2025R for 6 years and now on B2601. The bolts for the blades have raised elongated nipples that are supposed to fit into slots on the bush hog...

    L, M or H range

Does the range have any effect on the FEL power? We removed lower limbs on a magnolia because it was getting too big. About 4 of the limbs had grown into the ground for about 2 or 3 feet. Tried one of them with the FEL in M range. Would not budge. Worked on them with a combo of pickaxe...

Signal light lens and grill for

Something knocked off the leading left signal light lens today on the B2601. I've seen grills for these. Where does one get them? Guess it's the dealer for another lens? Messicks? Think some have replaced bulbs with LEDs. Source? Work okay? On our old 1983 Benz, its signal light system...

    What happened to top link?

My pictures aren't that great. Only have my iPad and dumb cell phone to get pictures. My old Canon quit on me. The bar that the toolbox sits on got bent by the top link. Top link is undamaged, but the bar on which the toolbox has a crease in it and is slightly bent upwards. Does the 3ph...

Took used oil and coolant to Advanced Auto

I took my used oil from the Isuzu change to Advanced Auto. I inquired about how to dispose of used coolant. They have a barrel for that, too. Used to have to wait for a day at the local landfill.

    No driveshaft Ujoint on B2601

When underneath doing the 50 hour service on the B2601, I looked to see what Kubota has to connect the engine to the HST. At the end of the engine shaft is a collar with an allen screw in it. Kubota apparently carefully aligns the engine shaft with the HST input shaft to only use a collar...

Anyone using oil extractor on dual drain Kubota engines?

That one plug was still leaking when I pulled it out yesterday to grease it. Tightened the damn thing again. Next change, I'm using my oil extractor and determine which side it will remove the oil from. Will not remove that plug at least. Have been using oil extractors for years. Only way...

    Retorque wheel and FEL bolts

Everyone doing this every 50 hours? I've never ever done it on 3 tractors. Have never had a loose bolt. Who has had a loose bolt? I went out today and marked the ones they say to retorque. Lots of 108s. 60s on front wheels and about 4 or so 66s on FEL mount. Not sure I'm gonna do it...

    Kubota B, L, etc. oil

I went searching for ACEA and API oil classification equivalents because the M1 0w30 ESP oil I bought for both the Kubota and the Isuzu is rated ACEA C3. ACEA is a European spec for oils. The Kubota manuals follow API specs. In the manuals, they make some sort of crazy recommendation to not...

    Watch your ROPS

I hadn't had any problem running the ROPS at 45 degree position: still provides plenty of head protection for rollover and is low enough to go underneath the two garage doorways. Today when backing it in, the ROPS hit the garage door. Bent the metal piece connecting the runner bar chain with...

    Quik Tach bucket

Decided that I need to remove the bucket for when I back into the carriage house basement to pick up the box blade. I've gashes in both doors now from the tips of the bucket. Do I just lift up those 2 long latches at the back of the FEL bucket to release it? Then just lower and loose...

    Zerk loose on loader

At a tad over 10 hours, so I greased the FEL points on the B2601. One of the zerks behind the "swift tach" label is loose. I have not had to mess with zerks in absolutely eons. Should I try turning it the approximately little more than 3/4 turn to get it in the right location? Can I take it...

Anyone use JD Hy Gard in their HST?

In cleaning out my closets in the basement of the carriage house, I cam across 2 gallons of unopened JD Hy Gard lo vis HST oil. Tried advertising it for $10/gallon on a local network and also on Craigslist. No bites. I'm inclined to get a couple gallons of UDT2 and take a little bit of both...

    Stiff PTO position selector

It seems that every time I put the B2601's PTO position selector in front position that it is stiff to move. Have to piddle with turning PTO off and on and wiggle it a bit to get it to move to both and rear selections. Anyone else experience this and know the solution?

    Stingy on fuel

After wood chipping today, it's up to 4.2 hours. STILL will not take all the 2 gallons of diesel I pumped from the generator's tank. That's considerably less than 0.5 gph! The JD 4010 at 18.5 hp ran 0.46 gph over 660 hours. The 2025R's usage was almost a direct prorate on engine hp of the...

    Sssh! Don't tell.

I removed the rear PTO shield. The combo of it allowing a tad less room than the JD 2025Rs and the refusal of the PTO to allow easy hand rotation was too much. The shield is off and will stay off. I'm a big boy and know not to put things in the way of a rotating PTO. Takes a 12 mm open end...
