OK, what now? (L1802DT steering box removal, hydraulic shenanigans)

So, a bit of a rundown on how I got the steering shaft out to straighten it. Edit: Before you start undoing any bolts, hit them with some WD40. These are old tractors, and the bolts are likely to snap if you try to undo them dry. Experience talking here. First thing to do is get a puller onto...

OK, what now? (L1802DT steering box removal, hydraulic shenanigans)

This confirms my suspicions. The diagram was underneath about 30 years' worth of grime.

OK, what now? (L1802DT steering box removal, hydraulic shenanigans)

OK, I need some advice from someone who understands tractor hydraulics I think. The FEL seems to work fine although it will only just lift the front wheels off the ground. The 3 point doesn't work at all since I installed the new control block. I used a male-male NIC connector to completely...

OK, what now? (L1802DT steering box removal, hydraulic shenanigans)

Well, steering box and column are out, straightened (mostly) and back in. Replaced the control block mount and changed the control block over for the FEL, and that's all working nicely. I now have seperate levers for the arm and bucket - should be much more intuitive to use, although I can't run...

OK, what now? (L1802DT steering box removal, hydraulic shenanigans)

The ball joint is easy enough to get off, but I couldn't get the pitman arm off for love or money.

OK, what now? (L1802DT steering box removal, hydraulic shenanigans)

Heh. Nope, the tank does have to come out. Getting to the 14mm bolts that hold it to the chassis is challenging enough, but then the steering box won't come out unless you take the pitman arm off.

OK, what now? (L1802DT steering box removal, hydraulic shenanigans)

Thanks, Russell. I've managed to get the cowling loose, have to disconnect the harness to get it out. It looks like I may not have to remove the tank, although I won't know for sure until I get the cowling off. I'm just a bit sketcy at the moment on how clean I have to get the area around the...

OK, what now? (L1802DT steering box removal, hydraulic shenanigans)

Yeah, grey market so Kubota won't even acknowledge that it exists. Stupid really, I'd buy parts from them if they even gave me the time of day. Fukkers. I'll remake the frame for the canopy, the plastic molding is in one piece, if a bit twisted at the moment. Discovering how to get the...

OK, what now? (L1802DT steering box removal, hydraulic shenanigans)

So, had a tree come down 15 minutes after my son had left for work (thank god). Unfortunately, the poor old tractor wasn't so lucky. Probably going to have to fix it myself because it ain't covered by insurance. The question I have is: does anyone know how to get the steering column out?

L1802 3 point slow when raising

So, I finally bit the bullet and took the thing down to my local AgPower dealer to have it looked at. I initially went to the Kubota dealer a couple of doors down, but they wouldn't even give me the time of day. Nope, grey market import, go somewhere else. IF Kubota think that I will EVER buy...

L1802 3 point slow when raising

Actually, looking more closely at the filter, it's NOT paper, but brass mesh. There was some foamy oil on he inner surface that made it look like paper.

L1802 3 point slow when raising

I believe hat knob controls the descent speed of the 3PH. Mine is frozen in the maximum position (probably have to get that serviced). Strange thing is that he 3 point is not too bad when cold, but stops working when it heats up.

L1802 3 point slow when raising

OK, more on the 3 point saga. Replaced the pump. It's not that. I'm still trying to figure the filter thing out. Today I went down to my local Kubota dealer and asked for a 38430-37710 filter. He doesn't have any in stock. Apparently they are no longer avaiable, having been replaced with...

L1802 3 point slow when raising

There are lists for the Air, Fuel amd Engine oil filters, but none for the hydraulic/transmission oil filter. Or am I missing something?

Thanks for that SDV. You wouldn't have the part number for the correct filter, would you? I have a genuine Kubota filter on the machine.

L1802 3 point slow when raising

...or not. The hydraulics work when the tractor is cold, but everything slows to a crawl when it's been running for a while. To the point where the FEL is struggling to raise after 30 minutes. I'm thinking it might be the pump.

    L1802 service info for Australia

Hi Truey. Any chance you can post the part number of the Australian hydraulic suction filter that you have found? The one I currently have on my L8102DT (I think it's the wrong one 30400-37710) doesn't have the nut on top either.

L1802 3 point slow when raising

No, haven't rebuilt the cylinder. The system holds pressure, so I'm pretty sure there are no leaks in the valves or the cylinder. To test the filter theory, I pulled the new filter off and replaced it with the old one that I still had lying around (seat side down on an oil pan, so no dust...

L1802 3 point slow when raising

OK, time for an update. I finally found the pressure relief valve. It's on the left side of the hydraulic housing, just behind the supply connection. Mine is an L1802DT, but the 2WD version is probably similar. Getting the relief valve out was a bit tricky with it on the tractor, so I...
