    L4701 vs MX5400

I have 52 acres and deal with the same issues you have. Do yourself a favor and skip the tractor and by a skid steer. Every attachment you will ever need can be purchased for a skid steer. I wish now I would have bought one instead of my MX5800. Heck my farmer uses a skid steer for moving hay...

    Ferris Question

My Exmark has a Briggs and after 12 years and countless hours as I used to mow on the side it still has not lost power or use oil. Hopefully I can get at least 12 years on the new one. I like the idea of having an oil cooler with such as large capacity. It is quiet, runs cooler, and very fuel...

    Ferris Question

I found this one used with 16 hours on it. I looked at all the other models and this one really was priced inline. Now buying new from the city would have been a different story. They were $3500 more than what I paid for a like new machine. I can say one thing if it lasts as long as my Exmark I...

    Ferris Question

Thank you for the recommendation I will try that. Currently is is on the softest load for shocks and seat. Rides like a dream but scalps easy. I will stiffen the seat like you said and adjust. I have a pretty rough yard in the country. Beats the snot out of me on the Exmark. Used to use my...

    Ferris Question

Recently purchased an IS2100Z Ferris Zero Turn. So far night and day on comfortability. More HP and mows much faster than my Exmark. My question is I have adjustable shocks and seat. What setting on the shocks have you found to be the most all around for comfort and cut. I’ve been playing around...

    Enclosed Pole Barn

Interesting fun fact on spray foam. If you spray the entire inside of your building it will not have any ventilation. From experience if the garage is shut up continually and moisture is drawn in and cannot get out mold will form on everything. Had two classic cars full of mold inside interior...

3 pt implement taking off and putting on

Here is an example of what I did for a post hole digger. I made a platform on a pallet for my gravel/snow blade, and all my other implements are on pallets. I have pallet forks and can move everything around to get it into position. Food for thought pallet forks are awesome.

    Circuit breaker size for motor

Exactly! Good point Jay :) I also hate hose reels, they leak, there reduced in size to mate to the machine, and they are expensive. I love a nice Ralley Wheel painted grey with chrome caps and rings to hang my hose from. Just makes the garage lol.

    Circuit breaker size for motor

On another note always watch what size air hose you use as well. I have seen a lot over the years. A customer had 100’ of 3/8 line outside diameter hose to the da sander, it would not maintain proper rpm. The hose was too long, too small and caused pressure loss making the machine lose its...

    Circuit breaker size for motor

I would be more worried about the wire size and length of wire ran to the machine. Smaller wire causes voltage drop. I have also seen breakers that were not sized properly and overtime heated up internally causing an electrical arc or melt down. I was recommending to you what I have seen in the...

    Circuit breaker size for motor

Started a brand new 5 HP compressor today. Incoming rush 109 amps. Customer was speechless. He had a 30 amp breaker with 12 or 14 gauge wire. Before I left he was going to run a 50 amp breaker with 8 gauge wire. Should be much better for him in the long run. Just food for thought.

    Circuit breaker size for motor

I have seen locked motor amps at 100 amps in the past. Seems like a lot from a little motor but it does happen.

    Circuit breaker size for motor

Look at the data tag again. Every electric motor has service factor amp ratings. This motor uses a 1.15 Service Factor. 21.5 x 1.15 service factor equals 24.725 but the manufacturer put 24.4 on the data tag. Listen guys I have been working on compressors for 15 years. I have seen and heard it...

    Circuit breaker size for motor

Look up the slide rule, I am not here to argue. My slide rule has always been good for reference. But I sure would not run a 30 amp breaker on a 24.4 FLA Motor.

    Circuit breaker size for motor

60 amp circuit breaker with min 10 gauge is preferred but I’d run 8. I work on these everyday. Incoming rush will take a motor out if not properly sized.
