    I wanted to buy local

The wife ordered up these corrugated planters online. Some assembly required. Not bad overall. Took us about 40 min to get the first one together. The second one, well we are in a hold. Got 2 bags of washers and nuts and no screws. Each unit uses 80 screws. Hop in the car and headed to my...

    Tick Tube Time

I started building the tick tubes this morning. And a few lessons learned. I did a 4-1 solution. I got permethrin to make tubes for the next six years. Do the math and just mix up a quart. I will use the extra gallon jug to store the remaining solution. Get your dedicated chemical...

    HST fluid level

While running my B3200 last week to clean debris from the ditches, I noticed the HST was whining a bit louder than normal in high range. Got back to the barn and the fluid on the dip stick was just touching the tip. Easy fix. I went and purchased fluid today and before topping up, I checked...

    Small Engine Saturday The Hunt

Raining here today so no tractor time. Pulled out the old Craftsman power washer to get it ready to use when I clean the mold off the house. Hasn’t been used in 3 yrs. I did however put it away after I ran it empty. Plug, oil and air filter looked good. Splashed some fresh fuel in and gave her...

    Identity Theft

I was the victim of identity theft around 10 yrs ago. Big time fraud to the point where I have a Federal case and have to notify them every time I am compromised. Nothing says Christmas like a slew of bogus cc charges this morning. I have fraud alerts through my Credit Union, they question...

    Upgrade Arkson Fuel Transfer Tank

I’ve had the 30 gal fuel transfer tank since 2020 and the hose that comes with it is no longer flexible. Questions to the group, does anyone have this tank and what have you done? An electric pump, hose and nozzle is around $325. Replacement fuel hose is $80 for 20’. 1” ntp threads both ends...

    Hose burst

Not a hydraulic hose but the hose at the gas station while I was filling up. Good thing the windows on the car were closed. I was dripping from the chest down with gas. Lucky we had a couple towels. Only my shoes made it home. They are outside airing out. We’ll see how they are in a couple days...

    Dryer cleaning. PSA

The wife said the dryer was taking double the time to dry a load. It’s at least 10 yrs old, electric and never cleaned. I pulled it apart and the lint was at least 3” deep across everything and the lint on top of the heating element was charred pretty deep. We were probably a few loads away...

    Love to smack a plumber

Was in the basement and noticed drips on the side of the HW tank. Surprise. It’s leaking up by the copper fitting. Well, at least it wasn’t the tank. Grabbed parts today and took it apart. Seems the installer didn’t use Teflon tape and we had some galvanic corrosion going on. Replaced the nipple...
