Operating a Wood Splitter on a L3540 Tractor

Sorry for not answering your actual question but.... I've been running a splitter on my L2800 for a few years now. Yup it's a little slower than a dedicated machine but for my purposes it works great. A cord or two a year is all it sees. If I were to get back in the firewood business I would...

Who's running a flail mower on a BX?

Do you have experience with both?

Who's running a flail mower on a BX?

Thanks for that. I looked at a few vids but they all head right for the brush and have them set to cut as low as possible and mulch the material. I only wish I had vegetation that thick!! Looks like the flail will work for me and I'll go ahead and order one. If I ever do need to work in the...

Who's running a flail mower on a BX?

Thank you for your reply. So the hammers work fine for just plain grass? Does it cut the tall weeds in the first pass so you don't have to take another pass or two? When it comes down to it will the flail cut as good or better than the MMM in grass, weeds and tall weeds? Not brush. As for...

Who's running a flail mower on a BX?

And another reason for the flail is dust and dirt. As mentioned stuff doesn't like to grow in the clay and there are bare patches. The MMM raises a cloud of dust and the blades are constantly needing sharpening from the dirt.

Who's running a flail mower on a BX?

We have reasons for letting it grow. First the soil is clay and getting anything to grow is a major undertaking. Second is we have bees and the wild flowers that grow are beneficial. Was looking for people with real world experience with flails. Now back to the topic.

Who's running a flail mower on a BX?

That's the one I'm actually leaning toward. Anything on it that you are not satisfied with?

Who's running a flail mower on a BX?

Does it work well with tall weeds? We have a couple places that we let grow and I only knock it down a couple times a year just to keep it from getting overgrown. Some of the stalky weeds I have to continually go back and forth with the MMM.

Who's running a flail mower on a BX?

There are a few companies that have small 48" models. The little BX is right at the bottom of the requirements. First I've heard about noise and vibration concerns. Videos I've seen don't sound any louder than the MMM. I'd be running blades not hammers if that makes a difference>

Who's running a flail mower on a BX?

Anyone? Which one? I have a few various lawns or yards that I mow. Only one of the about 1/3 acre is actual manicured. The others range from 1/4 to a bit over an acre. The MMM on the BX does fine on the manicured lawn. But the others are mostly weeds and find I have to constantly back up to...

    Bunny hopping when slashing.

It's called "lead ratio". Look it up, it's a thing. I can't think of a 4wd tractor I've operated in the past 50+ years that didn't have the fronts driven faster than the rears.

Picture your vehicles with the stickers.

Every time my wife buys a new vehicle she asks the salesperson for an advertising discount. Of course they pretend they don't know what she's asking and has to explain that unless they are compensating her for advertising then she wants all that stuff removed.

    Battery replacement, with no issues…yet.

My 2006 L2800 still has the original battery. Probably going to take a dump any day now that I said something.

    What valve do I need?

Totally understand the consequences of leaving the valve in the wrong position. Must admit that when I first got the hoe I forgot to complete the loop a couple times. Realized it as soon I turned the key.

Yup... your diagram is exactly what I would like. I can't be the only person that has wanted this.

    What valve do I need?

That's the way it was originally. Two long hoses that you connected together when the PB circuit is being used. Didn't like all that extra hose that would have to be coiled up and bungeed somewhere. So I made a mounting block and use a short section for the loop. Always looking for a better...

    What valve do I need?

Thanks for all the insight. My hope was to find a diverter that has 2 in and 2 out ports that would eliminate the Tee circuit and make for a cleaner install. Maybe that's a unicorn.
