Front Axle Final Drive Repair - L245DT

My front axle final drives have finally given up. Time for new bearings and seals, hopefully the gears are still serviceable. I haven't taken it apart yet. L245DT. Can anyone tell me whether or not the fixed castings need to come off of the axle tube ends, or do I only have to remove the...

    3 Point won't drop

New problem out of the blue. Been using the tractor lots lately, moved the tractor tonight and when I shut it down, the 3 point would not drop. Box scraper is on, so it's got plenty of weight. If I pull the control lever to the top it sounds like the relief valve is squealing, no noise...

Knocking and smoking out intake on steep slope?

I had a very odd occurrence yesterday while digging a hole for a new septic tank. I dug a steep ramp down one side so I could back down to dig with the backhoe, then turn around and drive down and get a scoop, then back out with a FEL bucket of dirt/rock. Late in the job, the hole was about 6...

    Wiring diagram question

In the wiring diagrams, the wires are identified in this format: "AV 0.5 Red" What does "AV" stand for, and what does the number such as "0.5" mean? Is the number some sort of wire size designation?

    Voltage regulator troubles

My L245DT is overcharging, up to 17V. Previous owner told me betteries only last a couple years, I'm assuming the regulator is the problem. Are the voltage regulators serviceable at all, or are they junk that needs replaced once the voltage strays out of range?

    L245 lower link end height?

My lower link ends only drop to about 15" from the ground. Barely low enough to get my box blade and mower hooked up. I have to set my chipper on blocks to hook it up. I haven't found this dimensioned anywhere in my manuals. I suspect maybe my vertical links have been modified by a previous...

    Sloppy backhoe control lever fix?

I have an older Kubota B/L 4520A backhoe, I believe it was made by Woods for Kubota. It has two control levers that each control two valves, left is boom 4 way, and right is dipper and bucket curl. Lately the levers are getting very sloppy, especially the dipper/curl side. What happens is...

    L245DT Front Axle Leak Repair

My L245DT has a leak in the front axle where the upper and lower cases slide/pivot. Is this normally a seal replacement, or indicative of wear in bearings? The lower gearcase is full of fluid even though it's leaking. Is it right to assume the gear oil from the axle tube leaks through the...

3 point control won't stay put

My L245DT 3 point seems to lift fine, but the control lever almost feels like it's spring loaded toward the down position. As soon as I let go, the control lever drops down to the wing nut stop, and the 3 point drops as well. Shouldn't the lever stay where I put it and then hold the 3 point...

    L1200 bucket cylinder seal replacement

My new L245DT has a leaky cylinder on the L1200 FEL. I have a FEL manual that shows exploded views of the cylinders and replacement parts. It's the type of cylinder where the cylinder itself has a slot that a retaining wire ring goes through when you rotate the cylinder head/cap. No luck...

New member intro - New to me L245DT

Hello all. New member, just bought an old L245DT with L1200 FEL. Everything seems to work, first priority is getting a maintenance baseline with fresh filters and fluids. I'll surely have lots of questions as I get further into it. Great forum and videos.
