    BX23 hydro oil change interval

I bought this BX23 with 1800 hours on the clock, and at that time, changed all the fluids, with the hydrostatic getting the SUDT, more commonly known in Canada as UDT premium. Eight years later, the tractor now reads around 2300 hours. What would the recommendation be, new oil, new filter, one...

    A simple mower deck dolley

A little bit of effort involved in making the 2 shafts, but that is all the materials you need. The mower deck wheels become the dolley wheels.

    Hydraulic thumb

My tractor is one of the older BX23 types which is a TLB, ie loader with backhoe. My first modification some years ago was a manual thumb on the backhoe, but using it was not all that practical. Subsequently, two rear remotes with spool valves were added, and one of these remotes was used to...

    Tiny toolbox for tiny tractor

Having an older BX23 scut doesn't give you a lot of options for toolbox location, seeing as the tractor is so small. This is where the toolbox seemed to fit the best. It does not stick out from the tractor very much, is portable, or totally removable.

    Tractor related? maybe, maybe not

Perhaps someone will recognize this thingamachig. It showed up at the thrift store and the spousal unit fetched it home to see if spousal unit#2 could shed some light on its function. #2 could not, can you?

    2750D snowblower bearings

The auger bearings at the sides of the snowblower are failing, in that the integrated locking collars have cracked and the missing segment contains one of the locking allen set screws. I would like to replace both, but have them in hand before disassembling the snowblower. It is still...

    Steering arm boots

I have been driving this tractor around for about 4 yrs with these boots torn. The new boots have been sitting in the parts bin for a year or so, but because of the poor reviews for wear that these receive, this is what was done instead. Hopefully they last longer than the OEM and for...

    Turnbuckles trashed, new sway bars

Well, those pesky turnbuckles are no more. Over the years they have been a constant irritation, and have been bent, otherwise damaged, then fixed, only to have it happen again. Here is my solution, and seems to work much better

    What is this?

Opened up the hood on the BX23 and found this laying on top of the engine, more toward the front of the tractor. After spending some time with a flashlight trying to figure out where it came from, I still don't have a clue. Suggestions anyone? I sure hope it wasn't a spoof by one of the neighbours

    Almost a real backhoe

I don't really want to hear from the safety police, so if you include yourself in that crowd, please don't read this. While the backhoe on the BX23 is capable of performing a lot of tasks, operating the machine is a royal pain. First, you move the machine to the right location, then dismount and...

    Grapple lite on the cheap-

So this coming summer it would be nice to have a grapple to clean up some of the brush piles that we have around the place. Problem; limited cash flow, must be fairly easy to assemble and mount, and dismount from the existing bucket on the bx23. First job was to repurpose the boxblade...

    Snowblower shear pin mystery

I have a 2750D front mounted snowblower mounted to a BX23 tractor, that has performed well for the last couple of years. The only shear pins that have let go, did so because of encountering obstructions of some kind, the kind that does the pin in from physical shock. Lately, that has changed...

Block heater control (save some bucks)

I bought one of these on Ebay for around 10 bucks. They will control temperature as relayed by the included probe, by heating or cooling, depending what devices you have hooked up to it. Max current is 10A. In my case, the heating device is the tractor block heater, and I have set the controller...

    Backhoe boom

The backhoe has a quick hitch on it with a 2" towing hitch receiver mounted to it. The boom slides into the receiver, and has 2 telescopic sections that are fixed by clamping bolts.

    D1102 E3 GB wsm

Just got a hold of an 8kw light tower with this engine in it and was wondering where I could get a work shop manual for it. After considerable searching on the net, I have come up with nothing. It has some neat features on it like a lower hose heater, a spin on fuel filter, and the best of all...

    D1105 coolant leak

Looking at a light tower, 8kw with a D1105 engine. The owner says it needs a new head gasket because there is coolant showing up in the oil pan. What are the odds that a new head gasket will solve the problem? What other routes could the coolant be taking into the pan, such as cracked head...

    Fuel inlet screen

There seem to be quite a few reports on this forum of fuel tank outlet blockages from debris (ie bugs etc) that gets into the tank while the fuel tank cap is off. Here is my solution to the problem, so far it seem to work as advertised. It is made from tea strainer (Ebay from China) cut to the...

    Broke on Sunday?

Of course, that is when things break, on days when nothing is open. We're talking about a 2750 snowblower which was operating perfectly when suddenly the augers quite, no warning, no catastrophic shock or nothing. Initially the thought was shearing pins but the auger shaft spins freely without...

    Shear pin misery

Happy new year to all. I have been more or less lurking on this forum for some time, picking up all kinds of helpful fixes and mods for the BX23. One thing that caught my attention was that some folks are having trouble specifically with the 2750 snowblower shear pin replacement and this...

    Hydraulic quick disconnect O rings

I recently removed the backhoe from my BX23 and reconnected the hoses at the back, to complete the hydraulic circuit. However, oil is weeping from the quick disconnects, where they are joined, and I assume the Oring and backing ring in the female QD need to be replaced. After spending quite a...
