    Oil warmer for winter

The tractor is used to blow snow ( front mounted) whne I come up to our cabin. I do that infrequently ( 3-4 weeks) so there's usually quite a bit of snow to deal with. And the tractor has been sitting on the cold. I did some digging into my collection of documents and found a "owners manual)...

    Any B6100 owners out there?

I have a B5100 - same steering issues - a bit wobbly. But up here in the Great White North parts are super hard to find. And in winter a small block heater in the lower rad hose run for 2-3 hours, makes for easier starting

    Oil warmer for winter

I have an older ( 50 years) b5100, small 2 cylinder 12 HP engine. I have tried a rad hose block heater - now twice - both have failed after 1 winter. There's no water pump - a thermo-syphon system. A conversation with a Kubota tech suggested an oil warmer or crankcase heater. Except most are...

Rebilding the engine on a B5100

There doesn't seem to be blow by from the engine when running , even after an hour or two to heavy snow blowing - no blue smoke , or black smoke. I will follow up with the glow plug testing and the injector work, once I get up north and the snow has gone away. Likely won't have to do much...

Rebilding the engine on a B5100

I've had the B5100 for about 7 years. It is a manual transmission, and I use it mainly for snow blowing in winter and for pulling a wagon around our rural property in summer / fall and to drag / level the 3/4 km gravel driveway ( I have a bigger 1952 Massey 30 for grading the driveway) . So...

Looks like my block heater crapped the bed…

The block heater I bought from the dealer has a built in thermostat. I used it for 1 season, next season it seemed dead. So I bought a second. It was dead after about 1 month. I checked the first one, it was(or seemed) good - checked it with ohmmeter. It went in OK, then worked OK for about a...

    B5100 front tires - 4.50-10 with lugs

One of my front tires has a couple of cracks that seem to go right through the tire . I've called around several tire shops and the local Kubota dealer and no one can find a replacement. The other tire look to be in good shape no cracks. I mainly use the tractor in 4WD with a front mounted...

Weighting rear tires and ballast box

Filling the tires is good, but for sure, don't let this happen to you http://www.mytractorforum.com/32-massey-harris-massey-ferguson/1216433-tire-rim-corrosion.html That calcium is bad stuff. OK for the environment once diluted (fertilizer) , but tough on metals of any sort. Only found out...

Is dyed diesel more expensive than clear in Ontario?

I'm not far from you in Muskoka, and my orange tractor is so fuel efficient that I would be concerned about the bottom third of the barrel. I try to buy fuel based on seasonality, so I get winter grade fuel and summer grade fuel. There are savings to be had, but I suspect that only applies...

Belt on Front Mounted Snow Blower

The blower is 42 in width, and when working on the LOW speed of the PTO throws the snow about 25 - 30 ft into the bush. That's why I got the machine in the first place. I run at about 80% full throttle and try to never let it bog down so the impeller is spinning fast. It worked well for the...

Belt on Front Mounted Snow Blower

Yes there is a quarter turn twist in the belt as it comes off the electric clutch pulley, around the idler pulley (which is spring loaded to supposedly keep the tension) , then another quarter turn to the snow blower drive pulley, and then finally another quart turn back down to another idler...

Belt on Front Mounted Snow Blower

The 3 rd thumbnail shows belt on my blower . http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23383 There are 2 springs on either side of the rails at the front of the rails but I could not figure out where they are supposed to attach. You can see one of the springs in the picture...

Belt on Front Mounted Snow Blower

I have a 42 inch front mounted blower on a B 5100 4wd. I bought it last year and last winter it did a great job. I really like the front blower because it lets me use varying forward speeds and my neck ain't as flexible as it once was. This year, was good too , until the drive arrangement ATE...

    Snow Blower depth stops

That was last winter . And part of the solution to sneux is the snow fence, but I did not get pictures of it. So here they are. I also made a short video of the terrain before the white stuff has fallen and obscured everything...

    Glow Plug Use After Starting

Now that the cold weather has started , I wonder about using the glow plugs after starting. I have a 25 year old B5100 - 2 cylinder. I usually count 10 clicks on the glow plug timer and make sure I can see the glow plug indicator is glowing. It usually starts firing on 1 cylinder and making...

    Snowblower Height for Gravel

Last year I did something about keeping the blower up to where I needed it to be.Here's the result Before i used the wheels, it was always digging into the gravel - I hate the ticka-ticka-ticka noise going through my machine...

    Dipstick - oil level B5100

The dipstick is firmly attached , in fact VERY firmly attached. So firmly that is does form a tight seal. I eased the stick out ever so gently, until the seal was "broken" , waited , and then pulled it out. Sure enough, the oil level was OK. So, yes, - there was ( or is) an air lock in the tube...

    Dipstick - oil level B5100

That sounds like a plausible explanation - Frankly it's disconcerting to pull out the dipstick and see almost no oil. I'll try some way of letting the dipstick "breathe" miro

    Dipstick - oil level B5100

I noticed that if I pull out the dipstick , there is only a smidgen of oil showing on the tip of the stick. I then clean it, then reinsert it, it shows oil level normal. I discovered this just after I had changed all the fluids etc once I got it home. So far there my oil light has never come...

B5100 Governor - yes or no

I don't have an issue of the motor bogging down under load, it's just that the other tractors operate somewhat differently. Thank you for the info , now I know what to expect. miro
