    help removing fenders on BX

    I'm replacing a failed hyd line for the power steering on my BX1800 and all is going well but I can't figure out how to remove the "control lever grips" the rubber caps on top of the controls. They are to wide to slip thru the fender slots so I assume they must come off. Any suggestions?
