I recently re built my old snow blower(bearings/gears) and figured the lower PTO connection should be running a shear bolt so I put a Grade 2 5/16" x 3",I have gone through 2 so far not abusing it,there is only 1 shear bolt on the blower and that's for the auger,any thoughts on this please?

I'm running straight un notched grade #2 x 1/4'' on the auger,5/16'' main drive/blower for 6 years now,snapped one on a hidden 2x6 last winter. Older L32 snow blower

After a total bearing/gear overhaul on the ol 3pt blower,it sits,waiting,chomping for some thing to do,not much here in the central interior of BC Canada,no ice fishing either :(:(:(

With a bit of zip cutting and torch love it came apart,I used the redneck penetrating fluid it did its job,things were soaked,but it was to far rusted.It took 18 tons to push what was left of shaft to get pressed out of the blower,both parts had fluid on them also,happy to have a new 41 year old...

I hope its just a rock,or rusty chain,I just did a shaft/bearing overhaul on my 40+ year old 5' blower,it wasn't pretty taking it apart with zip disks and some torch love,I used the redneck penetrating oil (50/50 acetone ATF),after cutting the bearings off the inner races were wet from the juice...

Yes I do but with a 16 speed manual transmission,no lock on the tractor shed

Just a heads up,we have about 320', of driveway with a 60x60 area behind the shop plus another 60' to the house living in British Columbia's interior,avg snow fall is 4-6' annually,I use my quad with a 6' blade 90% of the time,its faster than than my 5' 3pt blower unless its over a foot or heavy...

I never really liked the blower until my retired farmer neighbor advised me to run it at a higher gear,so now from 540 to 720 rpm,world of difference.
