    L5240 HST filter

Final update on the filters. Once I got the HST filter replaced, I did some light duty work and parked the tractor on a dry spot. I sat on the ground, braced my feet against the back tire & my back against the front tire. I used the vice grip style filter wrench, and got that filter off! I...

    L5240 HST filter

Update: My apologies for being all over the place in reporting my issue with this filter, my eyesight degenerated last fall, and I need to replace my glasses for near vision. When #050 & #060 ended up not working, I discovered there was a 3/8 inch thick plate with an attached larger nipple that...

    L5240 HST filter

No notches on the Wix filter, but I will try cutting any paint that might be sticking there. I broke two strap wrenches, not cheapie ones either; I damaged a third strap/chain wrench. The one I'm using now works like a vice grip.

    L5240 HST filter

No, the engine filter was replaced a couple months ago with an oil change & gas filter change. The other one I need to change is on the opposite side of the tractor as the HST filter, near the same general location. The parts man kept calling it a transmission filter. As soon as the HST...

    L5240 HST filter

Thank you for that picture. I did have the nipple inserted correctly. I think I figured out the problem but have to get some fluid refilled before confirming the problem. I was looking at the nipple & focused on that as the problem, I completely ignored the fact that the O ring was so loose it...

    L5240 HST filter

OK, first, the old filters are not Kubota, they are WIX. The only number I see on the WIX HST filter says 55. The part number on the HST filter I got from the Kubota dealer says HHTA0-59900. My phone doesn't do good pictures.

    L5240 HST filter

I picked up an HST filter & a transmission filter for my L5240. I got the HST filter off, but the new filter did not fit. They are not the same. I took the old & the new filter back & the guy looked them up. There is a threaded pipe adapter. I put it together the way the picture showed. It did...

    Tow an L5240 HST?

My L5240 hydrostatic quit on me at the furthest point from the barn. I suspect it's fuel related and I've got a few nice days where I can work on it in the field. But if I don't get it running, can I tow this?

    traverse drawbar

I bought a traverse drawbar for my L5240 and put 2 ball hitches on it so I could hook up to either my utility trailer or log splitter to move them, and I didn't have to keep putting ball hitches on my long drawbar. I used it the first time last night and might have a problem. The trailer...

    Rear end temp

Timely post for me, I ran my L5240 for a couple hours today. I was running a hay tedder, PTO driven. When I quit, the PTO collar and shaft were too hot for me to barehanded disconnect. I think I saw someone post the rear end could get to 180 operating temperature. That heat transfer to the...

    receiver hitch on front?

I have a L5240. I do not have a loader on it and do not need a loader. However, there are times I'd like to have the rotary mower on the back and a cargo carrier on the front to carry temporary electric fence items. Or, when I'm working at a distance, maybe put my bike in a carrier on the...

    Need manual for L5240

I bought a used L5240 this week, private sale. I need an owners manual to know how to service it. Shoot, I need an owners manual to know how to open the hood to check the oil, lol! The seller had the hood open when I went to look at it, I looked it over, checked oil, etc, but never saw where...
