    Algae on tires - problem

Finished mowing today and hosed down the bota. Noticed some green algae in the tread of the tires. Could wipe it off with my finger, but not with normal hose nozzle pressure. It's been pretty humid down here in the holler for the past week. Just curious if the algae is a problem, indicative...

Lynch pin instead of snap rings? - BX 3 Point Hitch

While our property is pretty flat, the ride can be bumpy. In my years of Bota ownership, I've managed to shake loose/lose some crucial pins at the most inconvenient times and as far as possible from the barn. A lot of the pins are for adjusting/easy removal of stuff that I'll never change...

Thanks for the compliments and comments. Kenny, maybe I need to add a few hooks to the contraption - then I could carry the augers to the worksite like dangling earrings. The hydraulic drive is running off the B3350 3rd function - so probably 5 gph as mentioned above. McMXi and a few others...

    hello

I agree with jaxs - the top link (screw in/out) does help to get things lined up. I've got a quick hitch and even with that, top link adjustments are usually necessary to get things lined up to mount an attachment. Since I've got a rear hydraulic remote I'll probably eventually add a hydraulic...

    Hydraulic Post Hole Digger Project

Thanks PHPaul - with our pressure treated fence posts, it's a given that they'll eventually need to be replaced due to age or accident. I'm not going get rid of my 2-handled digger yet, but this should be a lot less wear and tear on me. McMXi - you're right - it does operate in both directions...

    Hydraulic Post Hole Digger Project

Build complete!! Finished the project today - ground sharp frame edges, mounted hydraulic motor and even though it was wet (torn up turf will become gravel drive this year), I just had to bore a few test holes. Works just fine - took a video, but don't know how to upload it to OTT...

    Hydraulic Post Hole Digger Project

Picked up PHD frame from the welding shop. Need to grind the sharp edges - I think the loop handle will hit the forks where it sticks out (toward top of photo) - may cut the top part off below the tab and put a bike handle on the end of it. Barn isn't heated, so Kubota orange will have to...

Another pin popped off - damaged 3PH - time to harden my pins!!

NCL4701 - if I needed the t&t for grading work on our property (as opposed to hiring it out), it would be a yes. Between the rear blade and bucket with Piranha tooth bar, I haven't needed it ... yet. My income-generating days are over.

Another pin popped off - damaged 3PH - time to harden my pins!!

Agreed about Grade 5/nylock Yooper - hardened wasn't the best choice of words - secure attachment devices that won't fall off when I'm as far as possible from the barn was the intended meaning. I'd rather grab a couple of wrenches to change the machine setup than risk safety or have the expense...

Another pin popped off - damaged 3PH - time to harden my pins!!

Haha - I love that. In all fairness, having retired after 35+ years as partners in a small business, she got me well-trained on the difference between needs and wants. That training was definitely needed, given my shiny-new-thing proclivities. "If you buy that gizmo, will it make us more...

Another pin popped off - damaged 3PH - time to harden my pins!!

I've already posted about FEL pins falling out and my fix at https://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/threads/fel-frame-mounting-pin-fell-off.62803/#post-627946. Today was a perfect day to bushhog a field and after a few hours of mowing, I noticed that the rotary cutter wasn't hanging...

Honda GX 270 9 HP engine w/ 6 gpm hydraulic pump, hydraulic oil reservoir & 2-way valve - SOLD $40

Hi - these are some parts I don't need as a result of cannibalizing a Compac portable auger to make a tractor-mounted auger. 9 HP Honda engine - has a little gas in the tank (not sure how old), I tried to start it and doesn't start, but didn't go any further. Recoil starter slow to retract...

    Hydraulic Post Hole Digger Project

Had just enough time this afternoon to connect the hydraulic drive hoses to the 3rd function and with the motor sitting on the floor. Was elated to see it run in both directions and no hydraulic oil geysers either! Sorry no photo or video. I'll have more to post with photos once the fork...

    Hydraulic Post Hole Digger Project

Visited my local welding shop yesterday and he gave me a scrap 36" piece of rectangular tube (3/16" wall = 36" length - all I need for this project) to try on my forks for size. Perfect fit, so today I dropped off all the pieces and my drawings (attached). Also visited the hydraulic shop -...

Did my cannibalizing - will be using hydraulic motor, mounting frame, 4 augers & and some leftover angle iron from a previous project. Have rest of PHD parts on a pallet to sell - Honda GX270 9HP engine (won't start just pulling, but not frozen) with 6gpm hydraulic pump mounted on it...

    Hydraulic Post Hole Digger Project

I started this conversation on Implements & Attachments to get some ideas and am no ready to finalize my design and start building this. My plan is to build a poor-man's equivalent of a Landpride SA-10. I'm going to cannibalize a gas powered PHD I bought at auction for this project. I was...
