    Dealer pricing strategies.

Same tires on my BX25D... Man, Canadian prices are high!

    Dealer pricing strategies.

I'm getting ready to buy new wheels and tires. I can go through the parts department and buy them for a lot of money, or I can go to new sales and I'm only looking at $480 for the set of 4. Definitely worth checking both sales and parts for some items.

Wood siding for new barn or something else?

Because the manufacturer says so, and if that's what they say, that's what the building inspectors want to see. Beyond that, I have no clue! I'm guessing it has to do with moisture, condensation and humidity, but that's beyond my pay grade.

Wood siding for new barn or something else?

Just north of the Triad. You seem to be the outlier on fiber cement from what I've seen, but your note of "proper coats" of paint is important since I see so many crappy installs. Out of curiosity, are you mostly wooded around the house, or mostly open and exposed to the sun?

Wood siding for new barn or something else?

So far, price seems to be the big one, but the pieces are MUCH thicker than fiber cement siding, so I doubt cracking is an issue. Window and door casing might be an issue as I didn't see any trim boards for those applications, and if you're having to use wood there, there will be the inevitable...

Wood siding for new barn or something else?

I haven't used it personally, but a few of my local builders have, and they love the resulting look. Being pre-finished pieces, I don't have a clue how they'd take stain or paint. Might be worth reaching out to them for a sample to try out if the pricing makes sense for your project.

Wood siding for new barn or something else?

Being in tobacco country in NC as well, I'd avoid cedar. We've had plenty of issues with bees boring holes, woodpeckers, and in the past 5-10 years, the damn squirrels have found it wonderful to gnaw on to keep their teeth sharp, really tearing it up. If the budget allows, I'd consider EverLog...

    Fireplace insert

What kind of insert? Wood-burning or gas? If gas, standard vent, or direct vent? The gas fireplace vent pipes have gotten outrageously expensive in recent years.

    Question on holiday etiquette

Etiquette? My wife, being adaptable, recognized she wouldn't break me of being a Neanderthal, so she's started making pies in cupcake sizes. Some adjustments required to keep the proper filling-to-crust ratios, but I'm still enjoying the mini pecan pies and mini pumpkin cheesecakes...

    Advice for new tractor

This is exactly why I got the L2501. I got several quotes for doing my woods and due to the terrain and rocks, and random hidden metal bits (old farm place) the cheapest quote I got was $12k. Knowing how well Kubotas hold their value, I just decided to buy a tractor, haha. I wasn't in a rush to...

    Advice for new tractor

You're in the same boat I was in with similar terrain and acreage. I picked up a new L2501 and did the heavy work I needed. I sold it several years later for what bought it for, then moved down to a smaller BX TLB for maintenance. In your case, I'd probably pick up a low-hour L2501 as others...

I just bought my first tractor!

The L was just narrow for being taller. It fit well between trees, but the center of gravity just felt high to me since I was on a lot of slopes (tires were loaded). It was probably a good thing as it reminded me to always keep my load as low to the ground as possible. Going to the BX, I...

I just bought my first tractor!

Just make sure you block the back end of the trailer to prevent the weight of the tractor from lifting the back end of the tow vehicle! My L2501 would lift the back end of a 4wd F-350 with loaded tool boxes if not blocked. This thread almost makes me miss my L2501 that I sold back in April...

    Fall was short this year

Fall? Winter? I thought it was still summer. Building a shipping crate later last night with temps in the 70's, humidity in the 90's, sweating my tail off when it should've been in the 40s or 50s by that point.

What's up with some new members?

With political tensions turned to 11 in the past few weeks, I suspect some of that tension spilled over into other parts of life. Hopefully we can get back to our regularly-scheduled program around here now.

How many customers does the treadle pedal cost Kubota?

The pedal worked great on my L2501 and did exactly what I wanted, it felt natural after a few minutes. On my BX however, the pedal just doesn't work well with the HST, it's not smooth, easy or natural. I'd say the poor implementation has probably cost more sales than the actual pedal...

    BX guys

There was enough plastic of the cowl left on my old one that I used 1.5" wide fender washers under the thumb screw. It reached enough of the plastic cowl to hold it down. I've since replaced the whole cowl with a shiny new one.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Towed around a 48" plugger for hours yesterday before seeding the lawn. Weather got a bit chilly, so I'd plug an area, get cold, then seed the area, get hot, and repeat. Gotta say, the BX tows that plugger up and down hills much better than the poor Husqvarna did, haha. Never needed 4wd...
