I'm attempting to change my head gasket on my 2001 L3010 HST,
I cannot get the valve cover off past the cooling lines, is there a trick to this other than removing the lines completely from the transmission?
I can't remove the plate in front of the gas tank because of the loader

Looking at parts lists, if your serial number is 52725 or below, those two HST oil cooler lines have couplings 090 and 160 in them (see below) which look to be accessible without taking out the tank and shutter plate. But higher s/n tractors apparently don't have couplings. I don't see a coupling on your closer pipe - but maybe with both ends disconnected it would move enough for the valve cover to clear it? Might need to drain trans oil - maybe pipe would flex enough with just the front loose?

for s/n < 52725

for s/n 52726 and up

Yes, mine is the later one, I have the fronts disconnected, they move but not enough, the end on top of the tranny is unreachable to turn.

yeah those pipes are directly in the way for either a valve adjustment, or well anything that requires removal of valve cover.

The options are real limited in my experience. I found it just about as easy to pull the steering pedestal out completely, then remove the fuel tank, plate, and the two pipes (easily accessible with the pedestal out). Now with all that out you can get right to everything, makes it a ton easier and likely much more accurate work too since you can see everything and get right to it.

:(

Sounds like my friends Volvo years ago. Had to pull the motor to change the starter

I am now being told by Messicks there is no shim listed for head gasket?
I see where others have installed one, is it an aftermarket item?
