Can anyone tell me where to find the hydraulic oil level indicator on my 1996 Kubota L5450?

Try looking in the owner's manual. If you don't have one you can try to find one through kubotausa.com.

On older tractors they often used plugs and not windows for the level.

On my L185 for example the level plug is on the left side of the transmission and looks like a bolt head with a copper washer underneath the head.
