I am purchasing a L2501 HST with FEL and backhoe. Have a question regarding the backhoe subframe installation, are the 3pt hitch arms removed? If I remove the backhoe, how difficult is it to add the ballast box? Thank you.

The BH on my B7100 is great for ballast weight, but as springer3 stated, it adds a lot of length, and a little width.
3 point arms need to come off for my BH to mount, so I just leave them on my box blade when I un-mount that.

The backhoe also does not give you much ground clearance either, but all others things considered, it makes good ballast.

I do find having to take the arms and off on mine a bit of a hassle. Taking the backhoe off and reinstalling it is not that bad actually. But, having to fiddle with the 3 point stuff is just time consuming....not hard, just tedious. I wished they designed something better.

Yes... It would be nice to have some sort of quick release on the bottoms pins instead of being bolted.

The three point arms must be removed to mount the backhoe on the tractor. The subframe and three point arms are not in conflict with each other at any time.

It takes longer to remove or reinstall the 3 point arms than it does to mount or dismount the backhoe. The subframe obviously stays in place at all times - it's not in the way of anything when the hoe is removed.

Thank you, that is what I was looking for!

FYI - you can swap from three point to BH in 30 minutes or less and that's taking your time. It could probably be done in 15 minutes if you slightly hustle and you've done it a few times.

This does not include time to hook or unhook your three point implement of choice before or after.

Which cuts down the departure angle considerably.

My BH has left me stuck several times. Cross a ditch and the back tires drop down and the BH is sitting on the ground at the back side of the ditch. Fortunately I've been able to crawl myself out with the FEL curl each time.

Been there, done that.
I usually can just back out of those situations, but they do give me a moment of confusion, until I realize what's going on.

OK, so I'm not the only one to have bottomed out the backhoe. I didn't think I was.
