Has anyone found a spot on the engine block to put a sensor for a temp gauge on a b7200 without drilling and tapping? I have no whistle in my overflow tube and being tone deaf I most likely would not hear it anyway. I've found where someone added one to the upper radiator hose. Thanks for any help.

There should be a spot on the engine block (usually near the thermostat) where the original sensor screws in. I removed that sensor from my Mitsubishi tractor and installed a gauge instead. I did have to drill a gauge size hole in my dash. I just put it where the idiot light had been.

There is a bolt or possibly a plug near the front injector that looks different then the other head bolts. It looks more like a bolt which would be different threads. Not sure how easy it will come out.

There is indeed a bolt on the top of the head that is a cooling passage plug. I forget the size, but that's what I used on my 7200. Kinda hard to see in the pic. My runs consistently at 160 deg F.

That picture is a B7200?

You must of added a different alternator. Here is a picture of my engine with the bolt or plug that I think you are talking about. I couldn't figure out how to put a arrow on the picture like you did. it is just to the right of the front injector, between the two head bolts. Is it pipe threads? Did yours come out hard? I don't want to mess up the head. Thanks

Bob, Yes I did convert from a dynamo to alternator. Just so there is no confusion, I put an arrow at the bolt. Mine came out just fine. I found my old one. It's a M16X1.5. What I had to do was get an M16X1.5 to 1/8NPT sensor adapter fitting since my autometer gauge used a 1/8npt sensor. The setup works great and hasn't leaked at all.

two more pics....
Thanks a lot for your help. I've been eyeing that plug as a possible location. I pulled it this morning. Came out pretty easy. It is different threads. Where did you come up with that M16X1.5 to 1/8NPT adapter? They are great tractors. I build a 4' land plane out of 12" H bean that is just about to much for the poor thing. These hot days using that land plane has me worry at times about the temp of radiator. I have a 60" woods finish mower I used all the time to mow my yard and two other neighbors yards. Both of them have some steep slopes to them that I have to go straight up and down and without 4wd I wouldn't be able to do it. Thanks alot for your help.

I guess I need a M16X1.5 to 3/8NPT as I have a mechanical temp gauge. Searching I came up with the M16X1.5 to 1/8NPT . Not sure there is a M16X1.5 to 3/8NPT . Might have to swicth to a electrical temp gauge.

It might be an impossible fitting! Stand corrected a few post down.

OD of 3/8" pipe is 0.675"

16mm = 0.630"

Might be best to go the electrical gauge route.

16mm by 1/4" NPT looks to be as big as you can get.

Example: 16mm - 3/8 NPT Reducer Bushing

Will the bulb fit into the M16 hole? Then will it fit through the bore of the adapter (is the really important question)?
