M4 Injector Problem - fixed under warranty

I'm sharing an experience that I recently had with my M4-071 (170hrs). Last year while pulling a big aerator it seemed the tractor was losing power. At the time I chalked it up to the weight of the implement and didnt think much more about it. This summer I was mowing with a 6-ft hog and it...

    M4 PTO engagement

The PTO switch in an M4 is a simple electrical switch. Turning it slowly will not change the fact that its an on-or-off switch, It's the same as a light switch, the light is either on or off. That said, I never engage the mower (6' in my case) at anything higher than idle. It bucks a...

    M5660SUHD vs MX6000

I have an M4. For F>R shifting, I never use the clutch. Sometimes I do shifting F>R. The limit for me is in higher gears like 5L, 6L the electronic clutch let-off is pretty abrupt and will launch you backwards. I dont think its a problem for the system, it's just a quick launch backwards and...

    Tractor upgrade L6060, MX6000 or M7060 / M4

I upgraded from an open station MX5400 to a cab M4-071 and would not go back. Similar property to yours - 27 acres, mowing, discing, grappling, forklift work. For me the change was primarily the need for a cab. It's too hot here and I have allergies which made an open station rough. The...

Why no carbon or other trouble?

The idea that diesel is not as clean-burning is thrown around a lot, but never explained. It really is not. Gone are the days of a diesel engine belching black smoke. That was due more to the engine design than the fuel, and maybe the fact that it had higher sulphur than gasoline. Diesel is...

Hearing protection with music when running the tractor? What do you use?

I use isotunes for tractor work, framing with a nailer and saw, routering, etc and they are great. The music volume is limited to 80dB which is a safe level for 8 hour usage. But I agree it's a little low. I think that's a reflection of how badly I abuse my hearing in everyday usage!

    Diesel vs. off-road doesel

If the off-road is sold through a co-op as motor fuel, it will be identical to gas station diesel. The only difference is the color, which tips off the cops if you get pulled over and checked for using off-road in your road truck. They want the taxes of road diesel. The juice is the same...

Anyone here have the air ride seat upgrade for an M tractor ... specifically M60 family?

I have an M4-071 without air ride and formerly owned an MX. The standard seat in the M4 is pretty good. I have not "bottomed out" or been thrown around in my 130 hours of use. But...if I could buy an air ride for $400, I would do it without hesitation.

Shotgun shells (or maybe nothing) as a missile warhead?

Slap Chop! For those that remember those infomercials. Good riddance.

    High Use or Professional Chainsaws

I have an Stihl MS 261 that I would highly recommend. No comparison to a similar sized "farm boss" version. It's very heavy duty, lightweight and large enough with a 20-25" chain to cut down what you described. I've used it all weather, even cutting 8" of ice to open water for cows during the...

    First KTAC Claim

Years ago, I bought a wakeboard boat in Tennessee in November. After the paperwork, I dropped the boat in the water right at the marina for a test drive before planning to re-winterize it and haul it back home to Ohio. Ten minutes later and a mile from the boatramp I hit a submerged log and...

Glyphosate may not be so safe after all :(

Prop 65 was put into law in California 36 years ago. Imagine how many 10's of millions of prop 65 stickers have adorned everything from stainless steel kitchen forks to Starbucks coffee? The law certainly was poorly written, but dumb-assed legislators once corrected, should set about to fix...
