    Another B6100 loader build

No problem. I used 2” x 16” cylinders. I picked them up through surplus center. https://www.surpluscenter.com/hydraulics/hydraulic-cylinders/double-acting-hydraulic-cylinders/2x16x1-25-da-hydraulic-cylinder-103534-9-8759.axd i got the loader valve and all my hoses and fittings through there...

    Another B6100 loader build

My dad has his attached with chain binders. Without a turnbuckle they’re always too tight or too loose. These go on in 60 seconds with an impact driver. More if I have to find the missing deep well socket.

They are used to my shenanigans. But the tractor is slow. When I’m tuning motorcycles they scatter.

    Another B6100 loader build

Yes. That’s why it is hoop shaped. Clears the hood by an inch or so.

    Another B6100 loader build

just one more B6100 loader build. Big difference is I used a single tilt cylinder, but offset it to the right to clear the hood. I did my best to keep the bucket tucked close to the frame. The single tilt cylinder let this happen with a 20 degree back bucket angle at ground level. Added a set...

B6100 engine condition, all the usual questions

Update. I soaked the pistons and the injector tips in ATF overnight to clean some of the carbon off. On startup, it smoked like a banshee, but that’s to be expected with so much oil in the cylinders. After idling for 5 minutes it seemed to smoke less, but still some white smoke. I did my best...

B6100 engine condition, all the usual questions

Th Thanks for the feedback. The smoke is white, but the tractor doesn’t seem to burn any oil and the coolant level doesn’t drop. The smoke is also very thick and pungent. Doesn’t seem like coolant. I haven’t really loaded it up though. So far it has just been used for moving trailers and...

B6100 engine condition, all the usual questions

Good evening OTT, I recently picked up a 1980 B6100. So far I have fitted a 5’ snow plow and done some basic maintenance. Details are here https://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/threads/b6100-snow-plow.60313/ Quick version, is there a difference between cheap eBay or Amazon injectors, and...

    B6100 snow plow

One more data point. I’m fairly certain it did not smoke this bad when I brought it home. The only maintenance items I’ve done are change fluids, flush the cooling system, and change the fuel filter. The fuel filter was completely clogged. Could that have been limiting fuel flow and masking a...

    B6100 snow plow

It seems like it has good power, but I haven’t really worked it yet. This winter will be the test when I can really load it up with the snow plow.

    B6100 snow plow

I just hooked up an oil pressure gauge as well. Only did a cold test. 45psi at idle, 60 at 1/4 throttle, maxed out at 65psi at full throttle. I’ll be working it this week, so I can see what it is warm.

    B6100 snow plow

I actually got to use this bad boy today. I needed to knock down a path to get behind our chicken run. I mounted up the dirt scoop off my old tractor and used it to cut away a small berm full of rocks and roots. A FEL would have been nice, but this is way better than a shovel. Low gear is...

    B6100 snow plow

It’s mounted to the subframe on double shear tabs with 5/8 hitch pins. And the magnet is an adjustable angle welding magnet. It’s great for holding things in position for mock-up. I have a dozen in various sizes.

    B6100 snow plow

Paint covers a lot of sins. I was using a lot of recycled steel and didn’t clean it as well as I should have. There’s a lot of ugly in there.

    B6100 snow plow

Dan, it looks like we have a similar taste in old truck plows. I finished up my mount today. I went with a doubling acting cylinder for the tilt. Easier to package. I have a 2nd cylinder, same as the tilt on order for the lift. We’ll see how the da cylinder works with a float position valve.
