I have a B2782 front mount snowblower that I use on my B7800. It works great for the snow in Sandpoint, ID. Recently the chain came off and I noticed that the large sprocket on the input shaft was missing the allen screws. Given the wear in the teeth of both sprockets I decided to buy some parts and replace both sprockets and put on a new chain. Replacing the small sprocket in the steel box resulted in new bearings and a shaft because there just wasn't a pretty way to get the bearings off the shaft.

When I mounted the large sprocket onto the input shaft I found out that the input shaft end is really worn. Worn bad. The large sprocket is sloppy loose and no matter how I tighten the two allen screws it results in the large sprocket not being centered on the shaft. So the chain will be loose and when I rotate the sprocket 180 degrees the chain is tight. That won't work long term.

I purchased a new input shaft and this is where I need some guidance. The internet does not seem to have a good video or instructions for this procedure. I know that I need to unbolt the impeller and remove the bolts for the bearing flange but how does the input shaft come out of the transmission that the auger blades go into? I have searched this forum and haven't found a discussion of this process.

Does anyone have any words of advice?

Thanks for your help.

do you have a manual for the snowblower? if not, google it, it may not show removal procedures, but at least a parts diagram should give you an idea.

I looked at the parts diagram.

I think the entire fan, gearbox and augers need to be removed from the open side of the blower.

Then the gearbox has one side that is bolted onto the case. This allows access to the internals where there will be set screw(s) or other devices securing the main shaft to the worm gear.

Take lots of photos as you disassemble and be very careful that all washer, shims etc go back to their original location.

Thanks for the reply powersrp. I have the manual with the parts diagram. I was hoping someone was going to say how easy this project will be.

Thanks for the reply Dave. I was thinking along the same lines you are.
