Setting up new MMM on B7300

I am asking if this set up appears to be correct and if not, how might I go about changing the gap between the deck and the stoppers. Also it seems to me the gap is largely controlled by the cutting height you set the mower at (at least in when in the down position).

This is an RCK54-24B deck on a B7300 with the cutting height set to 3.5 inches. Left side, deck in "down" position.

Pic 1: Front link. The pins ride just back of the front of the slot. Does this appear to be correct? There is little movement deck up or down, seems to make no difference.

Pic 2: Front stop, 1.75 inch gap.

Pic 3: Rear stop, 1 inch gap. Is the stop link show in the picture used to pin the deck in the up position using the hole in the deck tab?

You have the front bracket on wrong, the clevis's hook into the front of the mower and the other piece falls down to prevent it from coming off. that is why the front of your mower isn't lifting.

No kidding! LOL So that bar that fits into the slot is just a safety feature, not the intended primary contact?

There are not holes for the clevis pins, do they drop into the slot? They would not slide all the way down in with the safety bar also in the slot?

Wow I'm looking at the instructions right now and that is not clear at all in the pictures or text. So that is why the piece that goes into the groove does not fit between the forks on the link. That was bothering me, poor design I thought but now I see why. Will make the change tomorrow, thanks.

Oh and that also explains why when I adjusted the link to the specs in length, the link was too long to fit into the cradle in front. I thought the specs were wrong. With bar tires, its 19 13/16 inches and with turf tires it's 20 3/32 inches. I have turf tires but the length was just too long. I used the 19 13/16 length.

That is why! Almost everyone is a little confused about that the first time! The pins go in first and the "safety bar" falls in behind them. Slick as snot once you see it work!

Thanks. That was very helpful. I just didn't see it for some reason though I puzzled at the design of the link and attachments. Now I get it and after you pointed it out, I see now in the installation instructions, it does show it, I just didn't "see" it correctly.

Corrected the linkage, so I hope.

Had to lengthen the rods to 20 3/32 inches (as speced in the manual) to get them to fit.

I think I have it right. Again thanks eserv.

The front wheels do now lift off the ground.
