As in run your tractor engine so the PTO rpm is correct on the tachometer ? Or as in moving the tractor across the field at some certain speed ?

You should normally run implements at rated speed.\
There can be some instances where an implement spinning/operating at a slower speed can be beneficial.

Redlands was referring to the tac . I have been brush hogging around 2200 rpm and seems to do a very good job. My PTO on the tac is around 2900 and was just curious thanks for the input fellows.
