Finally found where the noise was coming from. Both universal joints on the front wheel drive have completely disintegrated. We have removed the shaft, and now have 2 wheel dr.
Does anyone have ideas on replacement shaft, other than a good machinist? Sure would like to get her back to 4 wheel drive again. Thanks

Can you just replace the u-joints?

NAPA can measure what you have and get replacement parts (probably).

If not go to Messicks on line parts manual to see what the part numbers are and buy them from a dealer if they are available

I have no idea where you're at. Out west much agricultural drive line work is done by Six States Distributing. They can do all kinds of stuff and order less than common parts.

According to Kubota's online parts catalogue, you need two different u-joints: 6659156320 and 6659156320. About $50 each in Canada.

If the yokes are damaged, they also sell complete assemblies. The front assembly is 6712157250 and $280 Canadian. The rear (which includes the driveshaft too by the looks of it) is 6671157200 and CDN$560, but may not be available anymore. I'm not sure why -- all the component parts seem to still be listed as available.

Good luck.
