Looking for some advice from all of you seasoned owners out there. I'm coming up on 50 hours now on a 2014 BX25D. What are the must-do items vs. the items that are nice to do but not critical to the health of my tractor? What brand names for fluids (oil/hydro) do you suggest while controlling costs? What do you suggest with regard to grease fittings (type of grease, etc)? Do you have an online source for these things? Any advice? This is my first tractor, so am very open to anything that might help me do a good job, not cut the wrong corners while keeping cost under control. I have a nice shop and intend to do this myself. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

First thing is follow the manual schedule......period! All those are must do's!!:)

I used kubota oils and filters on my first 50 hours......at 200 - I am going to upgrade:D to the S-UDT2 stuff.....

I like Shell Rotella® T6 Full Synthetic for the engine. Thats just me.

As far as grease......get you a nice gun - I have a $100 pneumatic one, and lock and lube tip

the http://www.amazon.com/LockNLube-Grease-Gun-Coupler-Lock/dp/B00H7LPKKU

Get use to knowing HOW much grease it needs.....most grease IS wasted as it pushes out, and once it pushes out, now collects dust.

At last count and not including the MMM - there are 31 zerks on the BX25!:D;)

on another note - when you change the hydraulic filter, expect to lose some oil....about a cup or up to 1/2 quart depending on how fast you can get the new filter on!!!

messicks.com is one place to buy from

and several other online places carry kubota stuff at a reasonable price.

Hokie hit it pretty wel on the head, but I use M1 diesel oil,, so when it all comes down to it, its what color bottle you like and how much you want to spend,, JUST GET THE GOOD STUFF,, filters there's lots of cross filters out there either the orange or again some other color your choice, some guys in here will use nothing but "K" branded oils and filters and that's good.
The thing you need to remember is OIL, Filters and Grease are cheap don't skimp on them

Agree, the Lock n Lube is the best thing since sliced bread. Sometimes you need 3 hands to grease a fitting and this is a huge help! For me I use Kubota filters and Mobile 5W-40 synthetic oil in the crankcase. Kubota filters and Super UDT2 in the transmission. There are plenty of good oils out there.....I would stick to the name brands, but that's just me. Congrats on the new tractor!

Where were you a month ago?!?!?
Just did my 50hr on my L series and that was one thing I took away - all those zerks suck when you have a cheap grease gun. This single task took the most time.
This lock and lube thing looks WAY easier than what I dealt with. Going to have to pick one of these up for sure!
zip,

you might say that 30 some bucks is a lot to spend on a little ol tip thingy......

but I will tell ya - beats the hell out of "hold and hope"......:D:D:)

An older feller with a brand new kubota mower - the one that has the 4 wheel steering lost the middle spindle on his three spindle machine.....cause he THOUGHT he was on the zerk that is buried up under......ooopppppsss....

Picked up the stuff today to do the 50 hr on my L3901. Same as Hokie went with all Kubota this time and will change to Rotella at 200hrs.

Got my Lock-N-Lube tip in this week. That thing is great.
