Default B7300 Engine D722

I bought a B7300 that had a blow D722 engine.....the guy I bought it from told me they replaced the D722 with a D662 engine. The engine runs good and smooth and cranks right up with no problems. I am interested to know if I replaced the D662 engine with the orginal D722 engine would it perform better. The only problem with this tractor that when mowing it wants to stall going uphill. I looked at the specs on the both engines not a lot of difference.

The original engine in your tractor had 20.5 hp. The engine you now have has 16 hp, 28% less.

If you replaced the D662 with another D772 you would see a 28% improvement in those performance areas related to horsepower such as powering up hill with a rotary mower.

You would also see a corresponding drop in your cash balance once you pay for the new engine : ) A smaller mower would be less expensive........

Thanks for the info......I am thinking I will just run this engine until I need to replace it....I have read at tractordata.com that the hp was the same for B7300 and a G1800 which is where the D662 engine came from. I will keep looking for a D722 and if I can find one at a good price I might buy it.

Yup.

One in "running" condition will set you back $1200 or so. A remanufactured engine would be double that and new, if available probably $3500 or better.
