There are a couple options
This idea as a drive load down to unload onto level ground with or without the storage right and end of it. would need to build in water drains.

Here is a discussion on similar

Here is something similar with more official construction methods

These with drive load on level ground and you drive unloader up to height of deck. Less issue with water drains maybe

Course you could just go as easy as a pile of dirt backed down I guess. Back up load to pile of dirt and drive unloader to top of pile for unloading.

Re: Pallet-box for pickup bed?

Yes coach, you are on the track of how people do it that have a lot of sheep or cattle to load and unload. I have often thought how much easier life would be with real sheep handling facilities. Ramps with fences (loading chutes) integrated into corrals are the best solution.

Re: Pallet-box for pickup bed?

bcp, that loading chute was built for back in the day when farmers had to haul livestock in the back of a PU truck or a 2ton grain truck. They were replaced with stock trailers.

Anyone with a stock trailer now-a-days just backs up to an area designed to gather critters and contain them and direct them towards the open gate on the trailer. The trailers set real low, and if that's not low enough farmers will add a little berm and the loading area. Or use a couple sq. bales of hay as a step up, or a rail road tie.

Re: Pallet-box for pickup bed?

This wheeled loading ramp showed up on CL here recently. Looks easy to make from an old trailer or axle.

It would be really handy around here for when I just want to haul two sheep and not drag the horse trailer around, which is not as convenient as the stock trailers D2 describes. Then stash it out back somewhere out of sight.

Thanks TJ! Now looking up banjo fitting! :D
