Tractor won't start consistently. Had starter rebuilt, new solenoid, installed relay. Battery voltmeter test = 12.80 volts. Turning ignition key, sometimes it starts, most other times not. EasyChecker does not come on when key is turned on. Engine will not shut off with key ( must use kill switch). Do you think I should replace ignition switch?

Do the newer tractors turn off with the key? With detroits we killed with the air mixture (I think) and with my Yanmar and Kubota with throttle.

All related wiring, connectors and grounds need to be checked before throwing parts at it.

If you don't get anywhere with checking wiring, connectors, and grounds (best first places to start) try googling "starter voltage drop testing" and watch some of the videos.

That model has a timer controlled stop solenoid along with the manual override, It's powered for a brief period after loss of power from the key switch.

Sounds like you either have a ground or possibly a hot wire problem.
Yes it could be a bad switch, but check all connections first.
