What do you do during the national anthem?

This is anything but a political question, just one out of complete curiosity...

I noticed the other night, during the national anthem at my daughter's volleyball match, that I was among the few who had hand over heart. I noticed some with hands in front, others with hands behind back. There were even some with hands in pockets. So, what do YOU do with yours during the national anthem?

I grew up in a military environment. I guess I learned respect at a young age.

I always stand, if I have something on my head remove it, put my right hand over my heart, and silent. All that symbolizes respect for country, realizing many gave their lives for the freedom I have.

I have noticed a lot of the same at the grandchildren's football games.

It really upsets me at how many people just keep on talking while the National Anthem is playing.

Being retire AF, I of course stand and salute the flag during the National Anthem.

Same same, I have even had words with people for not removing their covers during the anthem. Mostly young Im tuff punks, that have no clue about the flag or what it stands for, but then with the liberal school system and how they teach things out of our country's history I guess I can understand why they know more about basket weaving than history.

Wanted to be sure I was clear about my intentions here. We've all seen bums who don't remove their hats, talk during the anthem, or worse yet not even stand. I was just curious what you do with your hands.

I have no respect for any of these athletes or anyone else who decides to take a knee during the national anthem.

I stand at attention - we don't do the hand on the heart here, but you will take off your hat. If in uniform I salute - for the Canadian, American, or Royal anthems. I haven't seen any of this kneeling crap in Canada yet.

Damn - I like that answer!!!

Every morning ....homeroom - they come over the intercom, the pledge.....

YOU cannot make them stand, BUT all mine will, and do, and most place hands over the heart.

At volleyball, football and other sports.....99.99% of people do the right thing. Hell - they take their hats off too!!!!

As for the kneeling thing........ I get the big picture, but they are "dissing" the wrong entity...... the flag nor the national anthem has little to do with the rights of those that are being infringed upon. If they want to "protest" - go down to local "office" that they are pissed at, and knee there, write an article in paper - post ads on telephone poles.

But dissing the flag and anthem......you would not play for me, if I OWNED the team!!!!!

I stand, right hand over heart, remove my cover and am silent and thankful for the freedom I have.

Side note:
We open every fire meeting with a prayer, covers are removed and no one but the member praying speaks and most all say amen at then end.
