Hi all, any suggestions as to what may cause PTO to not engage? Fuse good, infact, the dash display shows that PTO is on, however it won't turn. Thanks!

Hi Sask, things folks will need to know to help
1. Is something attached to the pto? Can you detach to see if same symptom.
2. Can you check pto lever underneath to see if something has come unhooked? Get someone to move lever while you look. Tractor off, just looking for mechanical problem with lever. Is this model all electronic controls?

Someone more knowlegeable will log on later!

The most common cause of sudden PTO failure on power-shift kubota's is failure of the PTO solenoid. If you look in the back under the cab and over the TPH you'll see a wire attached. that is the PTO wire. check if you have power there with the ignition and PTO turned on. you should have and likely do! remove the wire and connect a test light in series, it should light somewhat dimly. If it doesn't light at all the solenoid is burnt out. If it does light try connecting the wire and listening if you can hear the solenoid. if it clicks it is working, if it don't it is either burnt out or stuck, in either case you need a new one. ( Brace yourself when they tell you the price!)
By the way, there is extended warranty on internal failures of the pto on some M135"s Also warranty is extended on power shift failure on all power shift tractors starting with the x series IF the problem is the low range clutch. affects gears 1 through 4 but works in 5 through 8

This is where the fancy electronic controls really suck. Nice while working but makes you want manual when they break.

Thanks again guys! That's exactly what it was eserv...the PTO wire. Not sure how it happened but that tiny wire was broken off right where it mounts to the pump. Heck of a spot to get into, but once I got it reconnected the PTO is working as it should. Thanks again. Love this site btw!!

I dunno! sending a small electric current down a wire to engage a solenoid allowing oil to travel to a piston and engage a clutch pack seems pretty simple to me compared to the oil mechanical clutches!
