Is Rotella T6 5W-40 a good oil for these engines? OEM filters for sure here, but wondering if 5w-40 is warranty compliant, and if anyone has been using it and how it's performing for you.
I ran an old VW golf TDI on T6 for years, (yes I know, different machine totally), and found it an excellent oil in terms of performance and reduced oil consumption. I did the 50 hour change on the B with 10w-30 semi-synthetic, but time soon for 200 hr change. Have enough Rotella T6 left over (golf died years ago, kept the oil pail) for 2 tractor oil changes, but worried about the viscosity spec being different than recommended for my new tractor.
Thoughts?

Thanks!

Been using T6 since it came out and 15-40 prior to that. I buy it in 55 gallon drums. Just look in your manual and compare API ratings.

B2650 rated for 10w-30 or 15-40 above -10C, 10W30 below -10C. Class CI-4, CJ-4.

T6 is CI-4, CJ-4. It is also full synthetic.

Then my only concern is the differences in viscosities. Anyone else running T6 5W-40 below -10C out there? I'd rather use a "year round" oil like the 10W-30 than change twice a year.

Warranty compliant would be a question for a local dealer.

If I were in your climate, I would be using 5W-40. Once the machine gets to operating temp the oils should behave the same. Start up in cold weather is hard on the machine if the oil does not flow and protect the metal.

All I use is Rotella T6 5W-40 in all my kubota engines.
Kubota's are tough little monsters, and when it comes to engine oil, I'm pretty sure you could run cude in them and they would do fine! :p

I believe you are right on that. BTW, Shell is offering a rebate on T6 that drops the price to 12 bucks a gallon jug.

I switched to T6 primarily for cold weather operation. The 9 starts hard in an unheated barn in the dead of winter.

One thing I do is I add Nano-Borate to my oil. Nano Borate is a mild cleaner and carbon dissolver. Keeps 'em clean inside.
